Issues with The Dukes of Hazzard - Racing for Home (PS1)
-
@milenko if it doesn't work but you are sure it worked before, you can turn of the dynamic recompilation core and try it again (can turn it off when in another game if you can't load this one). The 4.1 image release of lr-pcsx-rearmed had a bug that dynamic recompilation off, which affected performance (but it might be more accurate / compatible).
-
@BuZz Thanks. I will try that. Not to sound ignorant, but how do I do that?
-
@milenko As i said above You could try changing some options in the Core Option (Select + X > Quick Settings -> Options) to see if that helps.
-
@BuZz Sorry to be a pain.
I am trying this on my friends RaspberryPi 3b, same that I have with same issue, and with dynamic recompiler disabled neither game will work. On a side note, I'm pretty sure I know why the 2nd game doesn't work on mine, and that is because of the .cue file. But with all the testing, updating, etc, The Dukes of Hazzard - Racing for Home still doesn't work. I have even downloaded the EBOOT.PBP for the game and doesn't work. I have tried all roms with ePSXe on the PC and they work properly. I tried a BIOS as well. No go.
-
@milenko maybe it just isn't compatible. I don't know. You can run with "verbose" mode (via runcommand menu), and then copy the
/dev/shm/runcommand.log
log off your rpi with sftp after launching and I could take a look. -
@BuZz It is possible it isn't compatible. We tried downloading the Euro version of the rom and it gets to the loading screen with the General Lee spininng, but never goes past that. I will try to get the log file this evening, or bring it with me tomorrow and get it on my lunch break. Thanks for your help.

Sorry to just jump in here in the middle but that really sound like a PSX BIOS issue. I've seen this behavior when the lr-pcsx-rearmed emulator can't find a BIOS file so it tries to use its generic built in BIOS (which isn't very good).
Could you give a screenshot of the PSX BIOS file(s) in your
/home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS
directory on your Pi?The PSX BIOS file has to be named just right with the proper case (all upper case) like this
SCPH1001.BIN
-
@backstander In regards to the Euro version with the General Lee spinning, here is the screenshot of the BIOS folder

@milenko
I just tried 2 different versions of Dukes of Hazzard for USA with both lr-pcsx-rearmed and pcsx-rearmed and neither of them would load. Got the black screen.Must not be compatible with the current version of pcsx on the Raspberry Pi :(

Bummer. Thanks for trying. I'll keep trying with each update release. This project has me wanting to play it so much that I'll probably get out the Playstation and the game this weekend to play it old school style.
