Correct location for PSX Rearmed Bios? Always selects HLE
-
So lets say i get to a point where the old emu was installed, its looking in the wrong place for the bios etc etc etc... whats THE best way to unistall it before updating the script and updating the emulator from binary?
. -
@a7mag3ddon the removal lines I put above.
I have just tested a fresh install of pcsx-rearmed and all is fine. Must be something else on your system - note I never changed anything that would affect this - I only changed the folder when we launch it so it looks in the right place for a bios (and made the configs live in
/opt/retropie/configs/psx/pcsx
)Make sure you are testing with a known working playstation game.
I can't really advise further as it all works here.
-
Ok but they are known working games, they worked on psxrearmed until I updated but using the hle BIOS of course.
I don't honestly know either because I've only been messing with the 1 problem since 8 o'clock yesterday nothing else.
I'll let you know.
-
updated back to my old one, updated by binary... yellow screen of death.
oh well.
-
Where does the binary you updated get installed, the one inside /opt/retropie/emulators/pcsx-rearmed/ has a file date stamp of 27/11/2016, shouldnt it be todays date?
-
@a7mag3ddon no - the binary hasn't been changed since November. The reason for doing the update is to get the latest configuration parts triggered from retropie-setup.
-
ohh..
ok, can you tell me what stuff gets downloaded when updating from binary then so i can try and reverse my issue 1 file at a time until i find out which is causing the yellow screen?
Im just in the process of unzipping the working image so i can get to the original files.
many thanks.
-
@a7mag3ddon the files in
/opt/retropie/emulators/pcsx-rearmed/
are downloaded (the new stuff is the symlinks which are created to redirect the configuration) -
That cant possibly be correct, that 1 single change would / should not break the emulator, however.... even though its impossible and shouldn't couldn't it must be true. because that's the only thing i'm doing.
Whats the command to run to create that symlink manually, i will test it on my known working image, if it then does break it then at least we will know.
-
Im sorry to say that (whilst waiting for another SD to write) i tried deleting the symlinked capital letters link and im still getting that yellow screen on boot so something else must be being installed at the same time ?
-
@a7mag3ddon I have no idea - I would need more information to advise.
-
ok how about the command to create the symlink to the file in the bios folder? i could try that without updating anything .
-
I think this is the command
ln -s /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/SCPH1001.BIN /opt/retropie/emulators/pcsx-rearmed/bios/SCPH1001.BIN
just testing now
-
Link created but doesnt work
only way to get this going is to copy a bios file to home/pi/bios/
personally i still think its a bug and the wiki should be updated to reflect it, installing a fresh build isnt really the answer to fixing it. Good for people just starting out but not for people who have already spent time making their retropie from scratch.
-
@a7mag3ddon it wont work unless your launch line changes directory - which is now fixed - there is no bios bug anymore. It won't work if you just create a symlink on a non updated retropie 4.1 etc.
I have removed/reinstall the latest pcsx-rearmed multiple times and it works fine each time. You have provided me with no information - no configs (as I asked for), no system specs, no idea of what you are launching and so on.
-
ok can you please tell me what that line of launch code is so i can manually add it and test that too
-
i can share the configs with you from the broken build if you think you can sort it without doing a fresh install, i also have resintalled using a fresh image and yes, it does work. but wiping the card isnt the solution.
-
@a7mag3ddon I updated my post above.
Without more information this will be my last post on the matter.
The new launch line is
pushd /opt/retropie/emulators/pcsx-rearmed; ./pcsx -cdfile %ROM%; popd
-
i just said TELL ME what you need, i will supply it!
be specific in your request for the files you want.

@a7mag3ddon said in Correct location for PSX Rearmed Bios? Always selects HLE:

this isn't how you get help - be polite if you want me to continue to help you.
I need all your
/opt/retropie/configs
folder and the/opt/retropie/emulators/pxsx-rearmed
folder as well as your/boot/config.txt
Tell me your system specs.
BTW you should make sure you are not overclocking etc when testing all this.
