Purchased my first Pi 3 (retro Pi)...HELP!!!

What I meant was between taking care of lil ones and work there is no time to play : (
-
@Capeman You should load up a two-player Thomas The Tank Engine and Friends session on the Megadrive dude....
-
@markyh444 Oh im already planning on adding that gem! I like to give really bad games a good run through sometimes.
-
I'm only allowed to play Thomas The Tank Engine and Friends on the Megadrive on mine when my son is about because he likes it.
My son loves Thomas but all he wants me to do is load up Kodi so he can watch the 1st Pixar Cars movie. I mean it was a great movie the first time I watched it but I'm getting really tired of it. Lucky for me there's a 3rd Cars movie coming out soon. Maybe it will give us a little more variety. Also he loves the 2nd Disney Planes movie.
You should try the SNES version of Thomas for some variety. For some reason it's completely different than the Megadrive version but it's still crap!
-
@backstander I'll admit I did load up the SNES one previously, but preferred the repetitive tedium of the Megadrive one. sigh
-
@markyh444
Yeah the Megadrive version does feel like it moves through the game a little faster. -
Morning all, your right and that did escalate rather quickly.
This became one of the greatest witch hunts I have ever seen on a forum and hardy constructive of a good community. If you go back and read threw the thread the poor fella answered all your questions and asked for help in flashing a new image onto the device once he was alerted to his situation

Had no idea, mate. They have a page on facebook as you can see and most stuff you do see advertised via facebook seems to be legit. What do you mean, download a new image?? As I say, I'm new to all this.
but you were all to busy flaming him which resulted in a very distasteful reference to his family, banning him and then the discussion descending into talk about piracy. The very thing you flamed him about
markyh444 please for the sake of not lookin like a complete hypocrite post a picture of yourself with the original cartridge for "Freeway on Atari" and "Thomas The Tank Engine and Friends on Megadrive" or some kind of proof that you actually own these games or it could be considered that you are no better then the op.
I am a serial forum lurker, I really enjoy some of the great discussions and information that you can find on them. I have been coming on here daily for a couple of months and could not bear to witness what was going on in this topic any longer so I signed up to help the poor fella.
I totally understand where the devs and admins are coming from, the retro pie project is something that is completely amazing and I truly thank you for all you hard work. I personally bought a package out of china that came with every thing that I needed and it also had a pre flashed card(no games). I re flashed the card because I wanted to know that I had the latest version. I bought it because I didn't want to buy several pieces of equipment from different stores and have them all turn up weeks apart or not at all to my remote location. I would have bought from directly from the project had there been an option to get a bundle from the site unfortunately this is not currently an option. You might find that if you offer an alternative to the other sites you would instantly stop this illegal trade, even it you did it at wholesale prices to make sure that you undercut them or with a fee on top to support the project, hell you could use a pay what you want system and I think there would be plenty of donations to the cause.

I'm sure everyone is willing to move forward constructively to help you as a new user in any way we can
I am not sure that this will ever happen @mediamogul , the poor fella begged for help and wanted to be apart of this community but he got chewed up and spat out.

To my understanding, it would still be illegal for the RetroPie project to bundle the RetroPie package in a commercial offering.
I am not sure that this will ever happen... he got chewed up and spat out.
Tempers flared because it's a deeply sensitive subject around here, but if he were to come back after his ban is up and was willing to abide by the forum rules for support, I'm sure he'd be welcome.

@Capeman Two-player Tetris is a gateway game to Dr.Robotniks Mean Bean Machine!
My sister-in-law broke my original MegaDrive playing so much Mean Bean Machine. Mind you, it was over a decade old at the time...

I have absolutely no clue to the legalities of such a package, as I said I didn't get mine because it had a pre flashed card, I bought it because it did have all the components in one place from one sender, I am sure a link to any number of great tutorials out there would suffice to get people up and running if the only problem was flashing the card

I can certainly see that, but if you look back at the start of the thread this bloke did say, in my own interpretation,
"hey look, I have absolutely no clue what I am doing! I, like probably 99% of the population had no idea that a multi billion international company like facebook would advertise such stuff, I had no idea it happened. I am happy to reflash the card to be apart of your community but I really need your help along the way!@Billy-Lee said in Purchased my first Pi 3 (retro Pi)...HELP!!!:

I didn't take part in the discussion, but from reading through it, I'd have to say he gave as good as he got. I found his tone belligerent and unwilling to accept he might have done something wrong.

as frustrating as it is....
I ready a study while back, cant seem to find it now though. It was something about apples terms of service on average is agreed to in 7 seconds. This is a 300 odd page document
Unfortunately people these days would spend their entire life reading terms of service if it was up to suppliers. It has become a force of habit to just click threw or ignore it completely for most people, no amount of point out the obvious is going to help/change these people.
-
Sorry @massatomic I think you've found yourself on a high-horse, well-intentioned as you may be.
OP's wilful ignorance and sense of entitlement was his own undoing.
-
@massatomic Do you genuinely believe he thought he was getting 17,000 games included in his purchase and believed this was all perfectly legit and above-board? I have my doubts... The position re 3rd party images is not only based on the legality of ROMs but due to the fact that no-one but the person who created that image will know what custom configs and tweaks have been applied. How would you even start to troubleshoot that? Plus the people who use these images often ask for help then have zero understanding on how to implement the fix. RetroPie is not a plug and play solution and I hope it never is. Some reading and learning is a must.

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII of Tetris. -
@Capeman Photoshop is a wonderful resource...
-
@AlexMurphy Hey now! Haha
-
Come to think of it, who's initials are actually "AAA"? Is 96436 even a real number?

May be so, I just felt that he made an honest attempt to fix the situation up to the quote I broke down before. If the next post was a link to download page and any number of tutorial sources for flashing and moving roms around there would of been a positive discussion from this point. Just how many times can you poke a dog with a stick before you get bit?

Nup, not for a second. But can you honestly say that you own an original copy of all your roms? People is glass houses should throw stones.

Yep, all that! Which is why I pointed out that he asked for help in sorting the problem out way but was met with more flame. @Hiroshi pointed out my rather tall horse, I cant help it, I have long legs :P
