Interesting, I am missing the folder structure after /home/pi/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/

/peripheral.joystick/resources/buttonmaps/xml/linux is simply not there. I created that folder structure and added the iBuffalo USB_2-axis_8-button_gamepad_8b_2a.xml file in there but still no luck. I am now uninstalling everything and will start from scratch again. Maybe something went wrong during the update from Jarvis to Krypton?

Oh and btw. I like the new interface. Kinda reminds me of bootstrap.

UPDATE:

Re-installed everything. Still no luck. This time it installed directly Kodi 17 Krypton, so no update was done.
Still no controllers work except for the keyboard.

@FlyingTomahawk That's very weird. Did you check the Kodi version after it installed that it was 17.0 compiled on Feb 3rd 2017?

Yes it is Kodi 17 from February 3rd.
I uninstalled everything again and will take a break for now. I'll give it another go later with a fresh mind.

@FlyingTomahawk Don't worry, I'm having my own problems with it. Kodi has crashed 3 times in the last 2 hours and wiped all my settings. Gonna do a totally fresh install. There were so many changes made to get to 17, a lot of code was totally re-written so I expected problems as I have been reading about them on other platforms. Good luck. It looks like I'm in for a long night!

Re-installed again and checked under My add-ons -> Game add-ons -> Controller profiles, I can see two controllers, the Default Controller and the SNES one.
Both say something about Team Kodi version 1.0.3
Still I am not able to navigate through Kodi with any gamepad or any controller that I have except for the keyboard.
Guess I'll have to stick a bit longer to Netflix then till I can figure out what is going on.

Controller profiles, are just button maps. What you have to make sure is that the addon peripheral-joystick in "Peripheral Libraries" is enabled.

That one is not showing in my Kodi 17 on my RPi3.
Is there anyway to add that?

How did you install Kodi 17 ? If you install it via RetroPie-Setup, it is installed automatically. If you have enabled the unstable repo in the first post, kodi-peripheral-joystick (it is a binary apt/debian package) is also installed but it is recommended to remove the unstable repo now, instructions on the first post.

Few weeks ago I was asked to create the Kodi standalone for my theme, that is when I downloaded Kodi Jarvis for the first time.
Yesterday I thought I'll check out this Kodi stuff and start to navigate through Jarvis with my wireless 360 controller but it was very jumpy and was skipping lines and all.
That is when I did an update through the "manage optional packages" page to get Kodi 17 Krypton.
Since then no controller works in Kodi 17.
I uninstalled and re-installed multiple times by now with the same result.
Always installing through the RetroPie menu "manage optional packages".

That is definately not normal. Do you have additional repositories configured ?
Install Kodi again, via RetroPie-Setup -> Opt packages and in the end, post your log located at /dev/shm/runcommand.log, on pastebin or similar, and post the link here.

You might make sure that after you uninstalled Kodi and before you re-install Kodi again that you completely delete the /home/pi/.kodi/ directory.

...and here we go again.
First uninstalled Kodi 17
Then deleted all Kodi folders I could find except the one in /home/kodi/ that one says always permission denied. Empty Kodi folder, permission 755
This time I removed all stand-alone settings so that Kodi will be inside Ports.
Installed new again Kodi 17 from the RetroPie menu.
Still the same situation. No Funny though this time all the settings that I had set, like for example on exit don't turn off TV or the controllers like SNES was still installed. That should not be right? Is there a way to purge all Kodi connected files and folders including the one that says permission denied?

/home/kodi/ is from old installations, it isn't used anymore.
Like I said before, the fact that your joysticks don't work, is mostly likely because you don't have kodi-peripheral-joystick installed. And you said that you couldn't find it in "My addons" but you have it on PC, so... And without it enabled, joysticks won't work, that is for sure.
You can force install it in terminal, but it shouldn't be necessary, because it is installed via RetroPie-Setup, why it wasn't in your case, I don't know, only logs will tell:

sudo apt-get install -y kodi-peripheral-joystick

Heureka! That little sudo code did it.
Yeah, we all knew it was that peripheral thing but it was and is still not clear what exactly happened. Maybe something went wrong when I updated Jarvis to Krypton. As you say without logs it is hard to tell and looking at the logs there is nothing. But now that it works who really cares anymore, I don't. :) Glad this is over now.

I didn't need to do any settings at all it worked just like that. Now I can navigate through the menu with ease.

Stable version is already available for sometime now .
No, you will have to update it via RetroPie-Setup -> Opt Packages

working well on my pi 2b

yeah, i spoke a bit soon, I'm not sure what is the cause but my install keeps crashing. sometimes it will recover, sometimes the pi will freeze up indefinitely. I wonder if there's a more stable rpi kodi bluetooth enabled version out yet.

RetroPie doesn't have PulseAudio installed and configured, so you have to do it for bluetooth audi to work. And for example, pulseaudio is not compatible with ES and emulators (that maybe the cause of the freezes), sou you have to disable it for your user, so it only loads when Kodi is started.
If you have done this, does the bluetooth speaker/headphone device appear in Kodi audio settings ?
