              @Nismo The game ROM. Not the CDmage.

                I tried @Nismo directions and then tested with lr-pcsx-rearmed and pcsx-rearmed and had the same issues with it loading up with the PSX logo intro then to a black screen. I believe Nismo is testing with the Beetle/Mednafen PSX core which is for x86 systems only.

                  @backstander Yeah. I think the same. Mednafen isn't avaiable for Raspberry PI 3's Retropie.

                    Must have a way to solve this issue.

                        @horaciowm

                        I broke down and gave the download a try. I was able to play it using the Mednafen PSX RetroArch core without any modification. However, using the same BIOS, I was unable to get it to load with any of the available PSX options in RetroPie. I know it's disappointing, but it could be that this game is simply unplayable on RetroPie.

                          @mediamogul yes I tested on Windows but I think libretro cores are cross platform
                          and the same improvements in all systems.

                            I might be misunderstanding you, but the Mednafen PSX RetroArch core isn't available for RetroPie.

                              @mediamogul I didn't know that core was not available. What cores available for psx in retropie then?

                                  lr-pcsx-rearmed
                                  pcsx-rearmed
                                  lr-beetle-psx

                                  beetle is mednafen. they renamed it for whatever reason.

                                  but... only pcsx-rearmed has an ARM dynarec, which means only those two cores will give playable performance on a pi system.

                                    @dankcushions Then can somebody try with beetle even with poor performance? just to see if it boots.

                                    Pcsx has not as good compatibility as mednafend psx/beetle.

                                      I tried it with the same European BIOS that worked on my desktop machine, but it didn't do anything.

                                        @mediamogul Strange... But @horaciowm seems to forget that emulators are not 100% compatible with all games, and not all games work the same in every emulator.
