Help with dual arcade controller please
-
Hi Guys
I have built a arcade cabinet for my son and bought the
Zero Delay Arcade Game USB Encoder PC Joystick Set MAME Sanwa Push Button AC491.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Zero-Delay-Arcade-Game-USB-Encoder-PC-Joystick-Set-MAME-Sanwa-Push-Button-AC491/152310863252?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D41415%26meid%3D27c8f25d8a1e4dc891ce18345af8b0aa%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D142181303645All is good but I can only get 1 controller to work. When I go to Retropi set up and hold any button in, it sees it as a dual controller but cant get the software to config the 2nd contoller.
Any ideas?
TIA
Si

Those zero delay boards are funky, i have one in my home built joystick for my pi, and some of the buttons are suddenly not working. You might want to consider upgrading to an iPac2 board or one of the may other quality keyboard encoders out there. Those are much more stable.

@Capeman cheers bud will look into the board. Did you ever get yours to work

Nope, i have a zero delay in my handheld joystick, and an iPac2 in my bartop cabinet.
The zero delay is starting to do some really weird malfunctions, and its definitely hardware problems. Buttons are just failing when they are sturdily connected and for some reason its dropping signal when moved in the wrong orientation. I didnt expect much from an $8 pcb, but ya, its pretty junky.
The iPac2 on the otherhand is going on it's second year without a single problem. Worth the extra $$

I have couple of these for various projects, they work very well with one exception - when I tried to add usb joypad for the second player, it messed the configuration and now I play as two players with one joystick. It is kind of fun in some games (TMNT, Cadillacs&Dinosaurs, 1941), but is useless in others (NBA Jam, Lost Vikings, etc.). You should be able to add a second joystick manually, mapping buttons to the same controller, but I do not know exactly how.

@lazarlazarov I may just buy another zero delay as they only £5

@d2craker Probably the best solution, I spent too much time trying to find out how to reconfigure the keys, always losing some functionality when fixing something other, it is easier to just reinstall

Not really anything to do with your problem but those are not Sanwa buttons just that you know.
Most won't really care but if you are into arcade sticks or arcade machines then you'll know the quality differences.
There are no Sanwa buttons that look like that and I guess they'll feel different when pushed. Look it up on google, search for OBSF-30 and you'll see what i mean.
I myself own 2 self build arcade sticks and I bought Seimitsu and Sanwa buttons and sticks and they cost way more then that set price.
For 33 GBP you could probably get 10 buttons. Looking at the sellers info...no surprise, China.Like I said not that most mind but once you have used quality stuff you won't get satisfied with that and it kinda angers me that they actually write Sanwa Push button in the title description.
