@angelswyd Did you read this? https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

      I'm assuming not.

Anyway, since I really like small TFTs I'm going to jump in here and not ignore this post entirely.

What screen are you running? (A link would be helpful)

What device are you connecting it to? Raspberry Pi? Odoid? PC?

What version of RetroPie are you running? Was it installed from the image on the RetroPie website? Installed manually on top of Raspbian? Something else?

We're going to need more information to assist.

@obsidianspider hi there, sorry I'm new to this. Its a waveshare 4in hdmi lcd. Running on a rpi3 B, with retropie from the website. Works fine on my tv. Gives of a picture on the small screen of like a busted LCD, right half of the screen black and the other half has 3 blurred images of the ES menu.

800x480 doesn't look like a standard resolution. Maybe that's why the Pi is freaking out.

@obsidianspider so I'm guessing this screen is no good for a handheld build unless there is a work around? Steep learning curve all this so appreciate the time :)

@angelswyd I'd try different HDMI modes and see what you come up with.

@angelswyd No worries, but just remember that we're not mind readers. We need to have some information about your setup to be able to assist you. That's why we ask those questions.

If you get that screen working, let us know. It looks really nice, and HDMI on a 4" sounds really sweet.

Looking at the website you provided, it shows there are custom drivers for that display. Did you install them and follow the steps on the Getting Started section?

It looks like the driver is for the touch screen, and they map out exactly what you should do to your config.txt file to get the display working properly.

@obsidianspider hey man, got the emulationstation station running great in the screen, only thing now is everytime I go into a game the screen just goes blank. Guessing that its a resolution setting issue :) but so pleased. Thanks! Will post pics when I can
