PS1 USB adaptator not working ( Usbhid error -32)
-
Hello !
I bought an old PS1 to USB controller (""Super Adaptateur 2 Manettes PSX/PS2 USB Gameron" - Super 2 controllers adaptator PSX/PS2 USB GameRon) which works on my mac using PCSXR but isn't recognized by OpenEmu.
I tried to use it with Retropie's latest version (4.1) but my controller isn't recognized (No gamepad detected) and I've got "usbhid error -32" shown at the beginning of the startup.
I used dmesg (here) and I've got the same message.
The controller didn't work with Lakka and Recalbox (which had the same problem).
I asked here for help but nothing worked.
quickly, I've tried :
usbhid.quirks=0x0583:0x2060:0x040
and
usbhid.quirks=0x0b43:0x0003:0x040added at the end of cmdline.txt
Any Idea ?
Thanks :)

@Dgeler can you post pictures of the adapter you are using? I cant find it based on the name uou provided.

@Dgeler also if it is only a single controller adapter the problem is that the controller is actually recognised as the second controller. The adapters use the same code and chip but the single player ones are always on player 2 for whatever reason. Go into retropie menu, go into runcommand and turn on joystick selection. Then exit back out. Restart emulationstation. Then go back into retropie menu. Now in there you will see joystick selection. Go into that and set the second controller as player 1

Here are the photos of the box and the adaptator (soldered with an original PS1 controller player, it works well)

Give this a read. I tried multiple PS1/2 adapters and only the ones I linked in that post worked on the Pi 3 - others, even ones which looked IDENTICAL to the working ones, didn't work. I would just cross my fingers that Amazon didn't change their source for these.

@Dochartaigh Did you have this kind of error using a not working one ?

This was months ago, but I don't remember seeing any new error(s)...just the inability to map the buttons correctly making the controller useless - that's why I mentioned these controllers (along NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis) being flaky unless you find the right one. Heck, even that above adapter I linked to isn't perfect - it works on my like 12 different PS1/PS2 dualshock controllers but won't work on the non-dualshock/non-analogue-stick versions for some reason...
