    Re: SNES retroachievements don't work

I've followed all the tutorials, but can only get retro achievements working on NES, but no other system, Tried all the methods listed in the topic referenced above to no avail. Any suggestions?

I've played multiple systems on the Pi, but only NES shows up. When I look at the Achievement Lists through Retroarch, I can only see achievements for NES.

@Trotts help us to help you. Say what emulators you are using, post a runcommand.log, post your configs, etc...

When launching a game press a button to see the runcommand menu, then choose "Launch with verbose logging". After RetroArch starts you can exit the emulator. The file will be in /dev/shm/runcommand.log.

The configs a need to see is the /opt/retropie/configs/snes/retroarch.cfg and /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg, but be sure to mask your RetroAchievements password before posting it. Post the content of these files on ghostbin.com or something similar.

Thanks @meleu! Allow me to help you, help me.

        The /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg: ghost bin link

        The /opt/retropie/configs/snes/retroarch.cfg: ghost bin link

        The /dev/shm/runcommand.log: ghost bin link

I appreciate you taking the time to try and problem solve this. I'll assume it's something small on my part. I'm new at this. Thanks again!

@Trotts according to runcommand.log your configs are fine. The problem is with the ROM. Your Aladdin ROM couldn't be identified as a valid game:

RetroArch [INFO] :: CHEEVOS got game id 0.
RetroArch [INFO] :: CHEEVOS this game doesn't feature achievements.

Is that ROM a hacked/patched version?

@meleu Oh man. I just replaced the Aladdin rom I had with another rom. It worked! I tried about a dozen different SNES roms. Looks like they are all unidentifiable as a valid game. How could that be possible if they all play fine? I'll have to search Google for a way to batch determine if ROMS are "bad" or not. Thanks.

I've recently discovered RetroAchievements too and I'm kinda hooked on it haha. That being said, not EVERY game in SNES, NES and Genesis has achievements. There is a full list here with all the achievements http://retroachievements.org/gameList.php

@BGallagherLA Thanks. I double checked ahead of time. I renamed all my ROMS years ago, so it's hard to tell which rom it is exactly. I've found through trial & error that achievements only work on certain versions of the rom. For example, with Donkey Kong Country. I have the following files:
Donkey Kong Country (U) (V1.0) [!].smc
Donkey Kong Country (U) (V1.1) [!].smc
Donkey Kong Country (U) (V1.2) [!].smc

The achievements only recognized Donkey Kong Country (U) (V1.0) [!].smcm not the other two.

In order to get the achievements recorded, you need to use the same ROM as the developer of the achievements.
They usually talk abou that in the page of the game in retroachievements.org
