Inconvenience with Shaders over last RetroPie update

Hi everyone! It's my first post and I'm gettin' an inconvenience with SHADERS. Ok, I recently bought a Raspberry Pi 3 model B with a Samsung EVO 32 gb. SD card. Everything woks fine about it with RetroPie 4.2. However, I tried to update the shaders from within Retro Arch setup and nothing happens. Whenever I enter to configure the emulators and put Video Shader options on TRUE, I go to filters and there's an empty list.

Is there any other way to update it? Is it a corrupt RetroPie image? I got another SD card with 4.1 version and it works fine and has all the shaders.

If you could help me, that would be great!

I believe you download the shaders through the RetroArch Menu:

(I'm not at my RPi and I want to see exactly what it says)

Shaders should be installed by default. But can check / update via retropie-setup / configuration / retroarch. You can't use retroarch GUI to update.

@backstander I did it. From Retro Arch menu I updated the Shaders and actually, it downloaded all of them I guess (message said downloading XXXXX.zip and the percent). I supposed it will be automatically installed so I restarted the RPi but the list is still empty. Somewhere over the net I found a file to download the shaders and where I'm supposed to place them using WinSCP. But nothing happens, the list is still empty.

@BuZz I will try to download the RetroPie image again. Or maybe a previous version. But I can't find where to download the 4.1 ver. Do you know where can I found it beside the official place? Yes, it's a risky question... Sorry

@martincrocenzi 4.1 images are available here still - https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/releases but I recommend you use 4.2

@martincrocenzi I suspect that the folder may have changed, so you'll need to navigate back from the default folder it starts at (i.e. entering the "/" item in the list).

See where it takes you.

They should now be at

/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/shaders/

but your configuration file might still be pointing to

video_shader_dir = "/opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/shader/"

(which was what 4.1 had, I believe). At least that's what my file had as setting.

Edit the retroarch.cfg file(s) as relevant - hopefully the one at

/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg

should be enough, but if you have "save on exit" enabled, you may have to go to each of the individual system files and change that.
