    I know there are ways to put the monitor to sleep currently but the current setup for retropie is to put in a black overlay (either at a low opacity or completely opaque) but it doesn't actually put the monitor to sleep. Could we get this implemented in a future update?

      @InunoTaishou you could always install the graphical desktop and then alter the script to call X to screen blank. There's more about it here and here
