Mad Catz SFV Alpha Arcade Stick Compatible?
-
Hi,
As per the title really, is the Mad Catz SFV Alpha arcade stick compatible with RP3 with RetroPie 4.2?
Heard that earlier versions (SFIV?) for the PS3 had issues and required internal modding.
Many thanks

Why won't you try it for yourself?

don't own one, or know someone who does, and wanted to minimize the risk of buying one and it not working (though i have a ps4 so wouldn't be totally useless but main use was going to be pi).
was hoping someone on here had already tried one :)

Well, just for completeness for anyone who searches this topic...
Couldn't get confirmation that the Mad Catz was compatible, it has gone up from £35 to £60 and Mad Catz has gone bust so not a sensible option anymore.
I got a Mayflash V2 which I can confirm works brilliantly in FBA and MAME 2003 using the lr emulators. Thinking of adding a Venom stick as a 2nd and to get PS4 compatibility (they are basically the same stick)

Just as a word of caution moving forward, third party wireless console controllers are always a gamble outside of their own ecosystem. The drivers written for Linux are almost always designed around what is publicly known about the official controllers and since this is also true of the companies designing third party controllers, the two very often don't overlap well.

@mediamogul i can say that both the wii and 360 madcatz street fighter iv arcade sticks work on the pi. However i recommend replacing the buttons and joystick with sanwa part if the fightstick you get isnt already using them. I use a wii one myself.

Mad Catz's reputation was getting to be pretty good. I really think there was an effort to improve the quality of their controllers. It's a shame they had to close down.

@mediamogul thanks for ruining my day... :) i did not know this. As a person who worked in the video game industry, i used to hate madcatz but i agree that they truly were changing. There were several great products made by them. As far as arcade sticks, i think they were the best. Hori used to be the one and only to get a stick from but that opinion has long since changed for me. I prefer a madcatz fightstick. I do like how they sold parts to customize the professional line of fightsticks.

@mediamogul and i think those were my father's wedding vows. :P

Ha!

@mediamogul The Mayflash V2 is wired so no concern there :)
and thank you edmaul69.

Hi,
It works in Retropie 4.4.2, I had to remove the xboxdrv driver from the system to work.
