      I am looking to add some playstation controllers to my collection. I used the DS4 but could never get more than one controller to connect. I would like to avoid using any external adapters if I can.

        You only other option seems to be a DS3, unless I'm mistaken.

          Just go for a PS3 controller. Now mind you, you need to plug in the PS3 controller via microUSB, then finding ps3controller on the RetroPie setup.

          This should probably help you.
