      @pjft

      I've seen some emulators display that behavior in the past - the DS one comes to mind.

      The stand-alone version of Stella also has this issue. When BuZz and I were testing the most recent version, I didn't notice it until just after it had been added and that same day the infamous trademark incident was announced. Naturally, priorities were shifted quite a bit to deal with that insanity.

        @mediamogul @AlexMurphy suggests that mupen has recently added the option to exit via select+start. I don't know how recently that was, but could certainly be a lead.

          I saw that and thought it was strange, as I've always been able to exit Mupen64plus using 'select+start' without any modifications.

            @mediamogul Ha! Maybe... I always remember having to hit ESC to exit. Maybe my mind is playing tricks in my dotage.

              @mediamogul And there it is...

              # Joystick event string for stopping the emulator
              Joy Mapping Stop = "J0B6/B7"

                I always thought it was very convenient that no mapping was required for that function. I also can't help but laugh at being suspicious of convenience in a technical matter.

                  @mediamogul I knew I wasn't going mental! I just checked another installation that I don't really update much or use for gaming, it's a Kodi box in the bedroom. It has this...

                  # Joystick event string for stopping the emulator
                  Joy Mapping Stop = ""

                    Have you changed controllers at all?

                      @mediamogul It may well be because of that. Good point. I actually normally use the 360 in N64. I actually had the SNES plugged in just to test something. This explains it. Start and select on the 360 are 8 and 9, not 6 and 7. Good spot.

                        I'm normally not the biggest fan of automagic configurations, but whoever implemented them here deserves a beer. In most cases the mapping seems very appropriate.

                          @BuZz not sure but I don't remember this issue in 4.0.2
