8bitdo SNES30 start + select won't exit out of game.

This controller is awesome. Unfortunately it didn't quite work out of the box but after a lot of research I finally got it to work. There is one problem left. I can't exit out of any games. Controller works perfectly but the start + select combo doesn't work. Does anybody have any ideas of how I can get things to work?
