What games are you playing this week? 2017-05-22
-
Let's chat about what games we're playing this week.
-
It was rainy this past Saturday so I decided to start playing The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons (GBC). I'm only up to the third dungeon (Spool Swamp) but it's sucked me in and has the same feel as A Link to the Past (SNES) or Link's Awakening (GB). I'm not sure how the whole linking the two games together aspect will work (Linking via passwords with Oracle of Ages (GBC)), but I'm still pretty early into the game.
-
Well, yesterday I beat Warioware: Mega Microgames (GBA). I plan to start playing Fire Emblem(GBA)
-
Yesterday was a tetris day (NES) in order to acquire some cheevos.
Then I started a Mystic Quest Legend (SNES) game.
I've done numerous times Mystic Quest on GB, but never tried this one before (which is very different in gameplay BTW). -
@Sano what's your username on retroachievements?
-
@meleu Sano was not available, so i chose Sanosan (same as my PSN ID BTW)
I just created it 2 weeks ago, so please don't make fun of me :) -
This week I have been playing Antartic Adenture on the ColecoVision.
EDIT Hahaahaha! Actually just watched this video. Whoever is playing this is totally shite at this game!
And Hurrican, a Turrican inspired fan-game from the @zerojay retropie-extra repo.

That's not my intention by any means! I like to add RetroPie fellows on RetroAchievements because I help the guy who implemented cheevos in RetroArch, and sometimes we need testers.
More people giving proper and detailed feedback always help to improve RetroAchievements experience when using RetroArch.
Until November-2016 cheevos were a bit buggy in RetroArch, but many fixes were made since then.
If you want to join us, take a look here: https://github.com/meleu/RetroArch-problematic-cheevos/
-
@meleu
I'll gladly take a look and help if possible :)
The first problem for me is that I can't run PAL ROMs with quicknes at normal speed (opened a thread here about this).
So I suppose it would make my reports irrelevant regarding the NES cheevos, given that quicknes is the recommended core. -
@Sano It is if you are running a Pi Zero.Are you?
-
Actually not according to the wiki (and a @meleu thread I can't find again) :

Edit : I'm on a RPi 3B -
@Sano Then, don't use
quicknes
-
After i have no idea how many attempts (loosing saves) i've finally finished snes FF3/6.
This week seems to be the week of ending games, maybe next week ill have to start some new ones.

There are some cheevos that don't work in fceumm, pick-up items on Metroid and Goomba Massacre on SuperMario3 are some I remember now.
I already opened an issue on fceumm core repo 6 months ago:
https://github.com/libretro/libretro-fceumm/issues/52@Sano I saw your topic, but I didn't have a raspi3 at that time. I got one a couple of days ago and I'll try to reproduce your issue. And let's see what we can do.
Cheers!
-
Back on topic: I'm still playing Contra Advance: Alien Wars on GBA. :-)
-
How does it compare to the SNES version? I actually played a bit of that last night and it makes the original 'Contra' seem like a leisurely stroll through the jungle.
-
@mediamogul I prefer the GBA version. It has only the side scrolling run and gun stages. It doesn't have the bombs and the option to have two weapons, but I prefer it. And the only reason is: I don't like those top view stages in the SNES version. :-)
EDIT: The original NES version is classic! I love it! :D
-
I don't like those top view stages in the SNES version.
That's always been a divisive element among the fans. I don't care for the top down stages either.
-
@mediamogul FIGHT!
-
I'm playing space quest 6.
