I see good mockups but those are major systems and fairly easy to do. Especially those with characters. It gets tricky though when you have to do systems like Ports, Amiga, SG-1000, Apple II, Amstrad, Atari and so on... Some systems only survived 1 year on the market and are difficult to find images, screenshots...

I would say go with the second mockup in the first post. Text only should be quick and easy.
Update to other icons later if necessary.

@FlyingTomahawk Yeah. I agree. Who was the standout "character" on the Vectrex for example? That triangle from Mine Storm? Or the 2600? A smurf / 9 blue pixels and 3 white ones...

@FlyingTomahawk I don't mean to ask personal questions, so just ignore me if it is none of my business... But how did you end up in Japan? Is it a permanent or a temporary work thing? Is being a westerner still kinda exotic? Have you become more polite since moving to Japan?

Just to keep it short and not clutter up this thread, here a short version.

Married Japanese woman
Moved to Japan in 2006
Intend to stay but never know what the future brings
Japan has its pros and cons. Very low crime rate
me before living in Japan = aggressive, meat eating foreigner
me after 11 years Japan = ~~aggressive~~ meat eating foreigner

How did you know that I was a foreigner? I could have been a English speaking Japanese dude.

If it means anything I can use chopsticks and speak Japanese as good as a native Japanese person.
