Power On/Off Button is in Reverse... Pushed-IN is OFF and Pushed-OUT is on.

@edmaul69 well i did try that and it didn't not change.
i tried many many many many combos with the wires ed.
i did bottom 2 pins left side, bottom 2 pins right side
top right bottom right
top left bottom lefti really did but I'm happy to do the multi meter
-
@briandamico you need to put your multimeter on the 2k. That is where it shows the diode symbol ->|-. It should beep if you touch your test leads together or show 0.00 ish
-
@edmaul69 ok should i desolder the wires i have on the back? or leave them.
and you say when i touch two pins and the button is pushed IN, then i have my ON function and when i push out i should not get a signal?
and should i have the power on for real doing this?
-
@briandamico with it set on 2k on your multimeter it should beep or show 0.00 ish when you touch your test leads together. Same if you have the switch pushed down and you find the correct pins. Then when you put the switch in the off position those two pins shouldnt beep when you touch them.
-
@edmaul69 stupid to ask, but should i have the actual unit on or it doesn't need to be on for this
don't use multi meter much
-
@briandamico keep the pi unplugged.
-
@edmaul69 ok so I'm at it and on the 2k setting and I went through every pin and not one beep
Now I started lest day with the bottom left pin and then touched the black tip to it, then took red tip and moved my way up and around all 5 other pins and I did that clockwise to every pin and no beep
-
@edmaul69 to be honest I don't think there is any sound on this setting even when the tips touch
The beep sounds comes when I'm on the red volume logo looking one 2 over to the left from the 2k
-
@briandamico ok well try on that setting then. Most multimeters have it on the diode setting.
-
@edmaul69 I found two sets of pins top 2 left and 2 right ther had jumps in spike on the meter that went away when I flipped the switch but no sounds
I'm gonnna try these
-
@briandamico ok. Sounds good
-
@edmaul69 ED! I LOVE YOU no really I LOVE YOU
i got it to work! for some reason you are able to break it down for me that no one else (yet) can do.
i can finally get some sleep tonight knowing my project with this mini is finished!!!
god bless you truly!!!
now tomorrow i will ask you 50 questions on apple ii stuff :)
-
@briandamico sweet. Look forward to it.
-
@edmaul69 believe it or not, i couldn't figure out how to tap into the built-in (tiny as hell) LED light on this board, so i gave up and wired my own and fit it into the area where the led is and it does its thing. wired it to the shut down circuit and to the ground of the pi. so i was able to be creative on my own lol. VERY VERY VERRRYY rare lol. but thank you again!! truly thank you!!
-
@briandamico these pi's are never ending so you should probably retain me for at least the next year. :)
-
@edmaul69 one last question for your tonight/today ed, with rest buttons (not power), when hitting reset it literally resets the entire system from scratch as if i turned it on for the first time. i believe i was aware of this, but i was wondering if there is a script or something to reset to the main screen of retro pie?
just curious, justttt curiousssss :)
-
@briandamico yes there is a script to exit back to emulationstation. But it would probably only work with retroarch emulators and emulators that use the escape button. Retroarch you would probably use ctrl as the hotkey and esc as the exit key. Ones like apple ii that uses different keys wouldnt work.
-
@edmaul69 Hi i am attempting somthing similar with a Super Nintendo reset button and am looking for a script that will exit the current game and go back the the game select screen.
Do you happen to know of a working one?
many thanks
