      Hi

      Im really bad at this.

I messed up in MAME key-config so I cant TAB into config.

      Everywhere it says delete /opt/retropie/configs/mame-mame4all/cfg/default.cfg

      How do I do that?
      Putty doesnt work (using WiFi)

If I alt+F4 what do I need to write?

Also, what command let me config a button to exit a MAME game?
Dont want to have keyboard attched all the time.

        rm /opt/retropie/configs/mame-mame4all/cfg/default.cfg

That's the fastest way, but if you'd prefer not to use the command line, you can also use the "File Mangager" in the RetroPie menu of Emulation Station. From there, just navigate to /opt/retropie/configs/mame-mame4all/cfg/default.cfg and highlight the file, then press F8 to delete it. It will ask you to confirm and then you can exit back to Emulation Station by pressing F10.

Hey sorry to resurrect an old topic but oit of curiosity would this also work with deleting a save game override. Yesterday I had accidentally pressed save game override while playing Real Bout Fatal Fury Special, and I would like to delete it. Also a few months earlier I had done the same with nestopia except I did save core override.

So do I just delete the default core for nestopia in file manager or do I delete something else?

@RedBatman have a look in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/config/. the core overide will be called something like nestopia.cfg, and the game overrides will be in the /nestopia/ folder, or something like that.

@dankcushions Okay when I get off work today I'll be sure to try this. Thanks for the help. I'll report back if I have any more issues.

Hi just reporting back saying that it worked like a charm, thank you much. My only oddity is that my FBA configuration setup had been reset and that my Game remap had been deleted for my capcom games. I was able to set it up again. But it kinda makes me a little worried. Did deleting the real-bout fatal fury config cause the reset or something cause I don't remember ever deleting my game remap files.

@RedBatman great! :) i don't use remap files but the two shouldn't be connected. i think remaps are in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/remaps/ (or something like that)

I see, to be safe I updated all of my installed packages last night to see if that would help.

Having some related issues. In an effort to figure out why my mame2003 in-game menu was not accepting any input other than the left-trigger to toggle the menu and the left stick to cycle through items, (No other button would select the options.) I tried deleting the .../roms/arcade/mame2003/cfg/default.cfg file.

Now when I attempt to run SpyHunter with mame2010 it always boots up in diagnostic mode with no apparent way to exit that mode. Just a screen full of various tests that can be performed and reports.

I tried re-installing both mame2010 and mame2003 and neither action restored the default.cfg nor am I even positive that the missing default.cfg is the reason why a game would boot up in diagnostic mode.

Edit: I now realize that the in-game mame2010 menu can only be controlled with an attached keyboard it seems.

Figured this out. Needed to use the keyboard to select the "Dip Switches" option in the mame2010 in-game menu and turn off Service Mode.
