      Hello,

About a week or 2 I will start with Retropie on my PI3.
I am looking for a cheap usb controller, no wireless!
Which one do you recommend and is plug and play for snes and n64 roms.
      Thank you

I use the Logitech precision for PC, looks like a black psx controller. 4 face and 4 shoulder buttons, no analog sticks.

I used a PS2 controller with a cheap adaptor bought from Amazon, works 100% and supports two controllers.

Same here! It has the advantage to use only one usb port for 2 controllers. :-)

I used this one before I built my own joystick:

I have used this same setup as well. I actually have a Ps1 Dual Analog and Ps2 Dual Analog and they work fine together. Just don't mix a Dual Analog and Non-Analog controller on the dual port adapters. Sometimes things flake out with that setup....

There are a lot of USB pads out there, but all the reproductions (NES/SNES,N64) I have tried are variable quality and don't do well for serious gaming (the controls are all some degree of mushy and the NES clone pad can't really do diagonals without randomly outputting a L/R or Up/Down).

Also, the Playstation controllers have nice long cords and extension cords are cheap: With an extension, I have something like 12 or 15 feet of cord. Also, AFAIK, retropie doesn't support rumble, so the PS1 Dual Analog and the Ps2 Dual Analog are often really cheap to pick up (or a PS2 dualshock that has broken vibration motors).
