@s_pie what was your previous version, and what method did you use to update?

@muehltime Retropie was 4.1 and updating to 4.2 (i think). Emulationsstation says to be 2.5.1 now.
When i enter a game = no problem or speed issues. Only the navigation around the theme seems to be speed up.

I updated via the Retropie Setup in the config screen.
Oh, and it's at RP3 by the way :)

          @s_pie is your Pie overclocked?

@muehltime Nope, no overclocking (would not even know how to do it)

@s_pie Still researching.... Do you have a backup image of your previous build? And did you update from binary, or source?

@muehltime Thank you for the effort :)

I made a backup from the samba share (as listed in backup option 2 in the link)

@s_pie and i did the "update all installed packages" - so it updated from binaries if available. Took around 45 minutes.

@s_pie At least you have those backups... I like having a stable image, just in case. Makes for a cleaner re-install if needed.

Did you update the the Retropie Setup Script (is that updated as well when one chooses update all packages)>?

@muehltime I agree with you on that! But alas, i am a newbie in this, and i took the "easy" way of making a backup - the power of hindsight ;)

I believe it is updated as well. I got the option to update the underlying OS and kernel, which sounded like the best idea ever - so i went with it.

@muehltime as mentioned, i'm using a wireless keyboard (with a usb dongle), and a PS3 controller, which i have "re-paired" with the Pie in the setup options. Is seems to be working fine, it's just the speed that makes trouble.
The text underneath the games descriping it, also scrolls at very high speed.

I'm not sure how to reset the input configuration?

@muehltime I have now tried a couple of USB-controllers. The issue is the speed-up as well. Tried to reconfigurate the PS3 controller, but that did not work as well.

@s_pie Weird... can't find anything on this. I suggest editing your subject line of this topic to ... EmulationStation Runs too fast after update... to get the attention of admins.

@muehltime All right. Thanks anyway. I have edited the subject line now.

Do you think a "basic install" could reset it all?

@s_pie Check your VRAM limit in the ES menu, it should be at 100 I believe.

I am a bit (a lot) of a newbie in this area, could you please explain where to find the VRAM? And what it should be set to :)
