      ..
Should I just fill out the rest of the missing values (in a PR) so it has all of the mappings (and labels) for both modes, do you think?

Normally yes, but I think because of the vendor/product IDs collision it wouldn't work properly - see https://github.com/libretro/retroarch-joypad-autoconfig/pull/893. You can submit the profile with the vendor/product IDs commented, so it won't clash with the existing profile.

      @mitu

The issue was in retroarch.cfg. I replaced it by the rp-dist version and it solved the problem!

      Thank you for your help.

@mitu Thanks for responding. I figured out a solution minutes after posting my question... maybe.

My solution was (ironically) to "update all installed core packages" within RetroPie-Setup. This caused the missing "autoconfig-presets" directory to be re-generated in the correct place.

Everything seems to work fine for now, but hopefully doing this won't cause new bugs elsewhere. If I encounter any more problems I will also make sure
      retroarch is updated.

@foxtochop said in How to edit autoconfig hotkeys?:

Is there going to be any problem in the future for me by binding state slot -/+ to "99"? (Any of my controllers have a "99" button).

No likely, since updates will not overwrite the file you modified.
As an alternative solution, you can disable the joypad auto-configuration performed by EmulationStation and modify your gamepad auto-config profile in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads to set your own hotkeys.

      Alright, thanks!

@badviper Would you please advise what steps I need to take to make my retrolink usb controller work with n64?

      Do I need to use lr-mupen64plus-next? I selected lr-mupen64*-something*

Do I need to modify /opt/retropie/configs/n64/InputAutoCfg.ini?

Do I need to reboot or only restart emulation station?

I don't understand the GUI option for selecting a Select button since my controller doesn't have one but games need that, right?

      Any other steps?

      Thank you!

For anyone else having this issue:

I'm still not sure what caused it. But I "fixed" it by downloading 4.2 and doing a fresh install.

@Noxoreos, never mind on that question regarding the directory (it just looked weird to me; I've never seen a folder with a ".data" at the end). Another question, however, whenever I try and run the shell script, I get an error about not having the permission to access data in the /var/lib/bluetooth/ directory. Any idea what's going on there? and how I might fix it?

@marcosnils said in Joypad hotplug not working:

I believe it has nothing to do with the pad itself because it works perfect if I start retropie after the joypad has been plugged.

Do you have another joypad to check if this issue happens? I have USB and Bluetooth controllers and this kind of issue never happened (hotplug always works fine). I'm using RetroPie in my Raspberry Pi and in my Linux Mint (ubuntu based distro). I still suspecting of the XBox joypad driver and suggesting a reading on the wiki.
