Hm, seems like the the hid_nintendo driver has some issues with the 8Bitdo pretending to be a Switch Pro Controller. Thanks for the investigatio and write-up.

Generally, users use the XInput mode for 8Bitdo Pro(s) and use the hid_xpadneo driver, probably that's why there haven't been so many reports similar to yours.

@mitu it seems that in Debian (LXQT) this issue is not present. I think i'll just switch to it. I assume that this bug is related to the GNOME desktop environment

@sleve_mcdichael having had a cursory look I can confirm and I lean towards "won't fix".

Rationale: As long as there are SDL events they get pumped into the Window.cpp/GuiComponent::input() call chain an consumed from there. Every downwards component "sees" one event at a time. Processing of the event is stopped either at the last GuiComponent in the chain or if a input() call returns true.

This also happens with Use LR/LB for full page navigation set to false. It just does not occur as easily as the cursor most of the time is always placed middle.

One option to remediate may be to measure the time between the events and if they are too close (i.e. less time than between update()/render() calls) drop the second, and ofc only if the events are LR/LB.

@mitu They are registered as axis movements. The gamepad is compatible with Linux and works well for me.

@duglor I think it is not working because the emulator does not do Midi and the text in this game as i have read says that is it piped thru midi. text rather than sound.

@mitu Spot on - I had to manually update the controls too (select the controller type in PCSX2), but now working completely as before - thanks so much for your help :)

Whatever you point of view is on this. I like to have peers (you, the other maintainers and also forum members) which help to streamline a change or fix. It was fun to solve this with you. :)

@mrmadcatz I think you got your info here - from @barbudreadmon. The configuration for this game in the hiscore.dat file is wrong - that's why saving the hiscore doesn't work.

Same situation is present in MAME, so it looks like saving it won't work until someone adds a proper hiscore.dat entry for the game. The hiscore.dat file instructs the emulator how to save the high scores for the game, if there's no entry for the game or if the entry is not correct, no emulator will be able to save high scores.

@muldjord said in Skyscraper appends 'T000000' to <releasedate> tag with '--flags unattendskip':

3.6.15 re-released with a fix now based on regular expression. I've tested in in various ways and it seems to work now.

Looks good. I can still break it if I try, by doing weird stuff like:

      19970303T12 becomes 19970303T12T000000.

      19970303T123456T000000T123456 becomes 19970303T123456T123456.

...but that's me trying to trick it on purpose. For regular use it looks to work fine: the multiple T000000's that got in there automatically, are now automatically removed, date codes with proper 6-digit time stamps are preserved, and ones without are given a single T000000 (which is then preserved.)

      See?

I don't, really. The alignment for subtitles is an OMX feature only - which is not supported by omxplayer anymore on the Pi4 - so there's little to do on the ES side here.
