It seems like the false input or "magic" credit" when using Coin Acceptors on Raspberry Pi doesn't have a solution.

@anthonyamar The Retropie Project frowns upon people trying to profit utilizing their software. I'm sure other people here will fill you in.

Just tested if this project can be combined with LEDSpicer like this over here :
      Syncing button leds with gameplay

      It works !
But be aware of the danger, do not use the GPIO 24 and 25 in LEDSpicer when using both projects together.

@lolonois This is all great info! Now I just need to see if I have the skills to implement it all! But thank you so much for the help!

And thanks! I'll be sure to add it to the "Projects and Themes"!

Thanks again for the ideas! Script stuff is definitely over my head but this all at least gives me a jumping off point to know what i'm trying to do!

@clyde Thanks! Over the years I had a lot of time to think about creative solutions to problems in the build. I never anticipated taking it as far as I eventually did (you can tell the original design was quite simple). But I'm happy with it now. Maybe someday I'll try something more advanced, like rebuilding a classic cabinet in need of saving or something.

@olegaryto said in Add a system timer:

Imagine It, you have a local or a pub and you want your clients to enjoy using your retro console but of course you want a legit benefit.

Imagine you buy an actual arcade with licensed games - you can use a Real ™ coin acceptor, like in the old days.

      Hi,
      I found the problem.
I analyzed the cable button with a tester and I found that also the blue cable also have 5v, I changed the cables changing the red by blue and is working fine.
      Regards,

@grant2258 I have followed this video, but I can't get it to work properly. Maybe it is a version issue (I use a CH-616). When I connect the COIN and COUNTER to the encoder, the voltage is always running. It seems like the contact of the coin module is not potential free. So when I try to use it in retropie, it constanly thinks I am throwing coins in it. Did anyone get this running properly?

Which emu are you using for MAME/NeoGeo?

If you're using a libretro emu, you should be able to go into the RA menu (Hotkey+X by default), go to controls and there should be controls for User 1 Coin 1, User 2 Coin 2, etc.

Set them all to the same input, whichever input your coin controller is mapped to.

Do you have other buttons available on your USB joystick encoder? Maybe try setting it to another button instead of an axis?

Anything like this would work well with an IPAC 2. https://www.amazon.com/Coin-Acceptor-Programmable-coin-types/dp/B01EAI1KAQ/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1508800034&sr=8-5&keywords=coin+acceptor
For arcade games, just program the coin acceptor as the coin in the arcade machine, (instead of using select or some other key on a keyboard).
I made a homemade coin acceptor with a few wires and some metal sheet, I don't recommend it but it worked just wiring it up to a button.
here is a good video on how to set up a generic coin acceptor with retropie
