@scopaust As with other controller that don't have a hotkey, you can use Select instead of a hotkey.

One thing I learned is the retropie setup on Linux creates partitions on the sd card and Windows cannot see them.

If you wanted to format your card back to a format Windows can see (which would be the 16gb)

      No extra programs needed.

      Hope this helps

lol thanks i reinstalled the thing cause i thought if i removed the configs for the emulators that would do it and obviously it didn't. I'll give that a go if I have the issue again I hope that won't give me the same issues.

@project_gamer You messed up the permissions on the /etc/sudoers file. Boot the PI in safe mode and restore the permissions on the file - it should be owned by root and not by the pi user. You probably chown-ed the /etc folder to the pi user :(.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to include a documentation for the Xbox One controller. For me this thread made the difference from giving up on RetroPi and finding the perfect setup!

I would be more likely to learn direct gpio wiring than buy another piece of hardware if I really wanted to get my pitendo running recalbox. I was only a little curious about recalbox. Overall I have become dissatisfied with emulation on the pi in general guess my expectations were set incorrectly. Oh well it was a fun project and I learned a lot. Eh at this point I just might pony up the dough for an Analogue Super NT and be done with it. /end rant Anyway might as well lock/delete the thread not much for anyone else to learn or discuss here and my question was answered several posts ago.

@nemnadogg said in Input configuration for each console:

@dankcushions In my case it's a retrolink N64 USB controller. I call it a generic joypad because that's how retropie calls it. The controls are weirdly scrambled for every console. Even for the NES, which is supposed to have the same controls as Emulation Station, yet for some reason is different.

this is the suggested layout for n64 pads: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/RetroArch-Configuration/#nintendo-64

if you bind it to that in initial setup, it will be this layout for all libretro cores, and a number of standalone cores.

I've wanted to change the button configuration that my PS3 controller uses for N64 emulation. But I'm not using one of the libreto emulators, so I'd have to do that in the system files, I believe. And as someone who knows nothing of software, I'm afraid of ruining something.

again, this all happens automatically. if you bind it during initial setup (https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/First-Installation#configure-controllers) to the PS layout (https://retropie.org.uk/docs/RetroArch-Configuration/#ps1) then it should create the relevent config files for mupen64plus standalone.

@DTEAM I managed to get it fixed with the help of this comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/RetroPie/comments/7r4vr8/how_do_i_reset_control_mapping_in_ppsspp/dsyj3ya/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

This restored my keyboard functionality and I was able to remap the controller and that worked.

      Regarding quake:

Again I'm an idiot. I never checked to see if the +3 and -3 were the actual values. The axis on a PS4 controller is actually + and - 5. So all I had to do was replace the 3s with 5s. Not sure why binding it to 3 made the controller unresponsive though.

      input_remapping_directory = "/opt/retropie/configs/ports/quake/" input_player1_r_y_minus_axis = "+5" input_player1_r_y_plus_axis = "-5" #include "/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg"

@freake Stop deleting config files left and right, you could make your system unusable.
What's your system - please answer the questions in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
Use the Runcommand launch menu and enable verbose logging, try to save the config and the paste the error log on a site like pastebin.com.

Also noticed that I don't have to add lots of games. Simply adding more and more systems to retropie will also chew up ES's RAM until it can't launch anything.

I might try playing around with the memory split to see if this helps at all, and allocating more VRAM to emulation station... but it may not work. Currently I have the memory split at 128.
