You need to press the button you've mapped to A during the input configuration dialog. If you wish to exit, just press Escape if you have a keyboard available.

We don't support 3rd party images - as outlined in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

Why don't you start with a clean image ?

@dankcushions Thank you that did the trick, I uncommented the #disable_overscan=1

This inexpensive device capture card is what I used.

@mitu. To clarify, I meant the version I am running - not that the file originally came that way.

Not exactly a problem, just excess from my learning/stumbling through, and wanting to clear out the clutter.

@Drax98 when you set it up you have to set up a,b,x and y like a Super Nintendo controller not an xbox controller x and y are reversed and a and b are reversed. Set those up correctly and you wont have issues.

@menace23 are you going to the retropie setup script, manage packages, optional, reicast, configure/tools menu then input configuration? That’s the way I did it and it worked.

I got the Super Gameboy logo to show up with rom paths and everything but lr-mgba wont save configurations... I give up.

EDIT: I got this form dev>shm>runcommand.log after changing an option in lr-mgba and resuming gameplay, what does it mean?:

      Parameters:
      Executing: /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-mgba/mgba_libretro.so --config /opt/retropie/configs/gbc/retroarch.cfg "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/gbc/1942 (USA, Europe).zip" --appendconfig /dev/shm/retroarch.cfg
      /opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh: line 1012: 1132 Segmentation fault /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-mgba/mgba_libretro.so --config /opt/retropie/configs/gbc/retroarch.cfg "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/gbc/1942 (USA, Europe).zip" --appendconfig /dev/shm/retroarch.cfg

I have found that arcade games using lr-mame2003 have vary wildly in their audio volume. Onw example, is Xevious which is much louder than other games and some games end up being much quieter. I know I can adjust the volume under settings / audio but that isn't persistent. I know about the hotkeys for volume up/down but again, I would have to raise adjust the volume every time I play Xevious for example.

Is there a way to adjust and save an individual game's volume? I checked the mame menu for Xevious and didn't see a volume option. I guess my other option is to figure out how to install a volume knob in my cabinet so I can just adjust on the fly but that's not much different than using the hotkeys other than a quicker way to dial in the volume. It sure would be nice to just be able to save a +/- db per game and be done with it though.

the thing is, if I put in a sd card with raspbian, the keyboard works just fine. also I dont have another hub.
however, because for some reason it will work when im exited from emulationstation, i can use the terminal. the reason why I even am trying to use the keyboard is so i can set up a controller to work, (a rock candy xbox one controller wired) so is there a way I can set up the controller, then just unplug the keyboard and use the controller from then on?
