      @Ranma

You're welcome, I'm glad you're finding it useful.

I got a lot of requests for a Zero 1 image of my setup, and while I exclusively use my Zero 2W in my Pi Case, it seemed interesting (i.e., difficult) just from an embedded systems design standpoint so I decided to give it a go.

It was a challenging project but worth the results I was able to attain at the end: Neo Geo Pocket Color, of all things, was the most difficult system to get working full speed on the Zero 1's anemic hardware.

Does anyone have a custom GPi case pre-made image?

I don't see why not. I do everything on Manjaro Linux with no issues. I'd have thought a Chromebook would be much the same. Never used one though.

I went into the Retropie Setup menu and selected "Update". This updates the Retropie system to the latest version. During the installation it asked 2 times if I wanted to replace some configuration files. I did choose "install the package maintainer's version" : So that replaces the currently installed configuration file.

This is the reason that only the official install is supported here. Whatever the update replaced configuration file wise was at fault it would seem.

Always better to start with the original and best 😉

@noobsaibot It depends, you still haven't provided any info about your system.

so it turns out doing relative file paths for the symlink worked a treat, but i was still having issues with config.txt
I managed to track it down though. Mounting the boot partition, changing the config, then unmounting wasn't actually working!! if i re-mounted again straight away, it would be back to the original files.

I found a fix though, you have to mount the loop device with a sync flag, this stops it caching the changes and makes it work as expected :)

thanks again for your help @mitu :)

@outahere91 might be. I have noticed that you can get interesting results from changing the digital speed as well,as sensitivity. I am still never certain which one I should adjust, but I usually start with sensitivity.

I just realized that I also have a faster poll rate set for my mouse.
--that might make the difference. It basically magnifies the samples per second to reduce digital "backspin". I bet that's why.

@Rookervik said in Loading a custom image on the Run Command:

Aaaanyway, I can get it to work by editing line 2 of the show_launch function to set image="" to the image I want. Then I just have to spam smashing the X button to get to the run command menu.

Hey dude! Today I tried what you were doing here and I found a simple way where you don't have to spam smashing the button to access the runcommand menu. Just put a & at the end of the fbi command. Like this:

      fbi -1 -t 2 -noverbose -a "/home/pi/retropie-tron.jpg" </dev/tty &>/dev/null &

It would be really cool if you artist guys make a fancy "loading" image, uh? :-)
(With the "press a button to configure" message, of course.)
