@jimmyfromthebay The MAME libretro core has a subpar libretro implementation and a lot of bugs because of it. It should be avoided whenever a game is supported by one of the recommended arcade libretro cores (FBNeo, MAME2003+). FWIW, FBNeo supports those 2 games and has a working dipswitch to toggle between single and dual screen.

@goombah111 said in Certain menus not displaying correctly.:

Does this help run games faster?

      No.

Does it add/take away from other applications?

Yes, since the VRAM is allocated from the main memory.

@jimmyfromthebay If you're into computers as long as I (starting with a Commodore 64 in the mid eighties), cables are among the first ususal suspects for any kind of strange effects. πŸ‘ΎπŸ‘»πŸ’©

Glad that it worked for you. Have fun with RetroPie!

@louf said in Which display resolution to use for widescreen TV with A/V output:

Very annoyingly in the raspberry community commenting things out is treated as if it's a valid coding technique.

The Setting is "disable_overscan" which can have one of two options "0" which translates to "False" and "1" which translates to "True"

The settings default is "0" so by commenting it out, it effectively does not read it, and it defaults to "0"

Hope that makes it a bit easier to understand.

But maybe a new release will be out soon also and we can just do a patch.

Seems they are preparing to release version 2.3 ...

drastic is not a libretro core, so the file you added doesn't have any effect on the emulator. I see that drastic has a 'Screen orientation' option, but it doesn't seem to add any rotation - maybe works only on Android (?).

      Try editing /boot/config.txt with ignore_lcd=1
Then reboot. Your RPI should know show over HDMI instead of lcd

Nice job on system info icon.

No offence, but you should have to tell about original code and maker - at least original github URL

and It would be better if you inform about your changes to master repositories.( there is 'fork' feature)

      https://github.com/zzeromin/RetroPie-OLED

FYI you can find bigger OLED disply (2.4 inch) on ebay

@shylock since more or less every videogame supported by retropie is in 4:3, you're always going to get borders on the top and bottom (rather than the left and right that you would get with a 16:9 display. integer scaling won't make a difference.

with vertical MAME games it would be a nice fit, though: smaller borders on left and right than (un-rotated) 4:3 or 16:9 screens.

you'd also probably need to get a custom emulationstation theme done, unless someone has already done a square one, otherwise it's going to a look a little funky it think.

      no idea about the performance...

Please add more info about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
Changes in RetroArch's configuration are not saved automatically, you need to either save a configuration override (for the Core used or for the Game) or - if you want to change an option globally - use the RetroArch entry in the RetroPie system and save explicitly the configuration.
