      Caveat: requires 64 bit, not sure if that’s in the Retropie pipeline.

      Also has some usb / uasp boot issues but may be surmountable- get it?

      @windg I don't think so. At least I didn't do anything more with my ext4 usb ssd. Here's the relevant part of my fstab:

      PARTUUID=2c31bca2-b1f4-4466-ab20-3a347852ba2c /media/usb0 ext4 defaults,noatime 0 1 /media/usb0/roms /home/pi/RetroPie/roms none bind,bg 0 0

      Some notes:

      I generally prefer UUIDs over device names (e.g. /dev/sda1) in the case that the latter is changed by the system someday for reasons™ (or perfidy 😛 ). I'm using two mounts, because my drive has a roms directory that I mount in ~/RetroPie/roms (with the option bind that mounts directories in directories) after mounting the drive itself in /media/usb0. I did that to be able to have other directories on the drive as well, since its 250 GB exeed the size of my rom collection by far. The option bg should tell the system to retry the second mount in the background, in case the first mount isn't completed yet. But I'm not sure this option is still viable in the current version of mount/fstab.

      @squishykoishi said in Auto mount USB HDD doesn't mount, HDD does work:

      As for /etc/fstab I'd probably ask something pathetically stupid about it, and would rather not waste time for people who need to answer more important questions/fix bugs or whatever :p

      My local LUG had a motto - don't just ask to ask, ask directly. That's why the forum (including the Help & Support category) exists.

      Well I guess I got this figured out and on the way learned WHAT NOT TO DO lol.

      Now to figure out this mausberry bit so I can get the switches to behave how I would like.....

      Power = Power on and proper shutdown when powered on

      Reset = when in emulation reset back to retropie gui/main screen, when at retropie main screen and reset is hit a proper reset is performed

      Keep your eyes peeled for another noon post, because I've read a lot about these mausberry switches and am quite lost how to get the performance I would like.

      I will make another thread for that tho as its completely off topic for this one.

      @steptoe

      I use a Seagate 1TB backup drive (was available in Argos for a steal of £50), run through the on-board USB ports and it works perfectly.

      Thanks, I forgot to preface that external hard drives with Laptop sized 2.5" hard drives in them will probably work with the RPi USB ports but Desktop sized 3.5" hard drives will typically not work.
