@mitu said in Unable to install gamecondriver-package:

      db9_gpio_rpi/releases/tag/v1.3.

Thx, mitu. The install worked fine:

pi@retropie:~/db9_gpio_rpi $ sudo apt install -f ./db9-gpio-rpi-dkms_1.3_all.deb ... Building initial module for 5.4.72-v7l+ Done. db9_gpio_rpi.ko: Running module version sanity check. - Original module - No original module exists within this kernel - Installation - Installing to /lib/modules/5.4.72-v7l+/updates/dkms/ depmod..... DKMS: install completed. Module build for kernel 5.4.72-v8+ was skipped since the kernel headers for this kernel does not seem to be installed.

      Thx, skidiver

@mitu Yes, when I run "configure for two snes controllers", the players are reversed. So, going to configedit's "choose joypad order", it will be (1 0 2 3). The correct order is (0 1 2 3). It's just a minor annoyance, but the first time I did this a few years ago, I went as far as re-soldering my set up thinking I made a mistake. I do follow the schematic that's pictured in retropie-setup.

      Take a look at

demonstrating how to map 2 4way joysticks to tank controls - including the Atari Battle zone. IMHO as long as you simulate 2 joysticks, you'll be able to map them in MAME to the tank controls.

post your "uname -a" If you've updated recently, you're probably running 4.9.xx as the kernel. And I was running that, plus RetroPie 4.2.13. the gamecondriver does not appear to work with this combo.

@darksavior said in You're killing Smalls... gamecondriver fails install:

@javelina1 Did you get it working without updating retropie? If you didn't, then maybe you have a wiring or config problem. Waiting for an official fix won't fix your problem. I also don't see why you changed the default gpu mem...

It did recognize my controller when I used the 4.4 image. But after all the installs, nothing after that. I must have screwed up my install process.

Regardless, I'm working with an Xbox 360 controller now. I'll await an update down the road for the gamecondriver and the 4.9.xx Kernel.

As to the memory allocation that is a side bar. Sorry to have confused you. I set my GPU to 128MB just for general purposes. It has nothing to do with the gamecondriver issue.

I'm good now, using the Xbox 360. Thanks for the help. I hope a "native" solution comes along to fix this issue.

      kind regards,

      -Jav

All working! Thanks for the help!

@Darksavior OK. Looks like they have now packaged 4.9.x - I hadn't realised sorry. I can only recommend you don't update the kernel for now then, as the gamecon driver is not yet compatible with 4.9 and I don't have time right now to look into it. (3rd party package so will need an upstream fix).

Never mind, worked it out! I had put the clock and latch the wrong way round! Swapped them over and it all started to work (except the start putton for some reason?!)

@faugnom1 I used its default config for two snes controllers so I've never had to mess with it. Maybe it won't get created until you set it up once.

@Darksavior check the instructions made by joolswills in the comments here:

Maybe it get some improvements in the future, but you can change it currently.

It doesn't seem like this is possible due to my SPI screen and GPIO SNES controllers both needing the clock pin on the Pi, plus the scripts don't seem to be easily configurable, so I decided to order a USB SNES adapter. Hopefully I didn't fry my controller when I was trying to hook things up concurrently today.
