It's held together with hot glue. One of the thumbsticks is messed up. Those spacers between the controller and the screen are actually legos. The thing labeled VCE is an adapter allowing me to plug a pair of earbuds into the mini HDMI port.

@mud2005 Glad you like it too! The newer model is slightly squarer than the older ones and the resolution is a bit different, you might have an even better one.

I can highly recommend a Kite Circuit Sword Gameboy build like my own.

It's basically a RPi3+, so has a lot more raw power than the Zero builds like RetroFlag, but still no need for active cooling, fits into an original Gameboy case, and there's lots of batteries to choose from. Mine runs a 5200 mAh, which is charged via USB-C and holds power for around 10 hours.

Costs a bit, and takes a bit of tweaking of the case, but everything is pretty much plug'n'play, apart from soldering the speaker and a mode-button onto the board, but really worth it!

I just completed Links Awakening DX on this machine, before playing the new game on Switch, really enjoyed it.

Might be better to have short games that take a couple hours to finish unlocked for a day but maybe longer RPG style games should be unlocked for several days? I'm not sure if your friend likes to focus on RPG's to finish them or if he plays RPG's at all. Maybe RPG's only unlocked over the weekend and have a small handful of unique shorter games unlock each weekday (like different ones every weekday)?

@tr00p3r well the fun part with the officials image is that you can mess with it as many times you like. And through messing with it, you learn how the system functions. Basically learning the basics of retropie. I’ve messed up configs so many times in the beginning, lol. But hen when it comes to 3rd party images made for, let’s say my free play zero gba, it gives me direction to look for issues, instead of just being blind to the complexities that makes retro pie.
The raspberry pie was designed to teach people how to code and configure computers. In my case, I’ve learned quite a bit here configuring my pi’s to my liking. Playing games is just a very fun side effect. Good luck 👍

@ViktorK I see what you mean now. You want a permanent battery source that can be charged on the fly. I'm not sure this would be appropriate for that, however I haven't tested it to see. I'll have a go and let you know.

hey guys, I own that Joystick , but Retropie won't recognise, when I hit any buttons (hold a button to configure..). On my windows machine it's detected and working as "xbox 360 Controller".

Any idea what I could try to get it work within Retropie?

It doesn't quite go as planned.

I have a Freeplay Zero kit waiting anxiously to be put together. In my opinion a fantastic concept! Based on the Game Boy Advance, which has an amazing form factor, ergonomically way better than the DMG-01 if you ask me. You can find loads of GBA shells and you only need to cut away a little bit of plastic on the inside. The Freeplay Zero itself is a really nicely designed PCB to be soldered to a Raspi Zero W, but now they also have developed a kit for the CM3, so a bit more powerful, also a bit more expensive.
