I swapped over to Hypseus, and was able to get everything running (tested on Dragon's Lair). Thank you again for the suggestion!

@YFZdude Yea, I entered kiosk mode on accident and it wasn’t reverting when I was setting it back to full.

Is the controller configuration saved in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads ? Do you see a .cfg flie there for the controller ? If yes, can you post the contents of the file surrounded by code tags here, in the topic ?

Just as an update. Inolen has released a new build, 1132. This appears to work OK on my Retropie (Buster) build.

I installed it manually but I assume it will work to update from source through the Retropie menu.

As far as Linux (and RetroPie) is concerned, your 'headphones' are just an USB audio card - disable the onboard audio and they should be come the default audio card on the system.

@WeirdH thank you, but i solved setting a lower resolution.

@exitkioskmode you may have messed up things that may be too difficult to fix. That fix is from 2016, and may cause bigger issues on a newer os. Might be easier to start over with a fresh install.

I know another user made it work by installing the newer driver on the RetroPie image (see here).

For pairing, the 1st pairing option should always work, there's no need to try the other options. After it's paired, can you run

cat /proc/bus/input/devices

and post the output ? It should show if the gamepad is detected as an input device.

I tried a bit more stuff. Last thing I did was uninstall xpad and install xone. The adapter seems to be connected as a USB device for a moment, but then disconnected again. See log output here: https://pastebin.com/dgWF9gT5

/edit: I don't know why, but with xboxdrv installed (xpad uninstalled) and input mode set to dinput (not xinput) it's working now...

It turns out the driver for the LCD set the GPU RAM to 64MB upon installation. I tried it on 2 other 3B+ units I had running RetroPie because it was bugging me, and it did the same on both of them.

Just to confirm, I set it back to 128, reinstalled the driver, and it went back to 64 each time.

So if you use this screen, or maybe one similar to it, check your GPU RAM allocation after you install the drivers, it may have changed. Especially if you move the Pi back to a higher resolution display.

Edit: To be more specific, running "sudo ./LCD-hdmi" will set it to 64 every time. In my case, and probably others, if you move back to a "standard" HDMI display and do not run this, you will not have audio at all, no matter what you set in the Raspberry Pi/RetroPie. So if you use this or any similar LCD, and you notice you lost audio when moving to something else, don't forget to run this. Then check your GPU RAM allocation.

Additional notes:
I installed the duckstation core, i tried playing the game there and swapping discs works perfectly, although it doesn't recognize the CD1 or CD2 extension i had to rename them as .cue files again and change the m3u to reflect the changes

I may have forgotten to mention but I've noticed that when doing a initial clean install of RetropIe 4.7 I noticed that with my 8BitDo controllers that there is a bug that does not allow me to configure the Right Trigger and Left Trigger . It does show up as a Xbox 360 controller, I had fixed that input by updating Retropie to current 4.7.11 and redoing the configuration.
