Edit: oops, it was the wrong score and screenshot. corrected it now.
I was still trying this game, before going over to next weeks game. I just discovered the other guns have "bombs" and not just this "useless" evasion move. I finally managed to kill all enemies in first level, 100% clear rate and beat my personal score quickly by a little bit. @VictimRLSH your score is still insane.

      Score: 133200

Honestly there is enough information out there about installing retropie or some other front end on a PC that the process is pretty easy and spelled out even for someone as tech stupid as me. Given the price vs performance of relatively old and cheap PCs vs a new pi or even a pi4 for that matter, if I had it to do over again I would just go the PC route especially after figuring out that what some people define as “acceptable” performance for emulators like dream cast and N64 is an entire galaxy removed from what I would consider even playable.

So really it all comes down to your specific needs.

If your trying to emulate simple games >25-30 years old then a pi3 or 3b+ should be able to do it and honestly there are even exceptions to that depending on the game.

If it’s after the last two decades just go PC.

But really, sit down and make a list of about 10-20 games that you basically can’t live without, research the hardware needs for them and go with the strongest one.

@retropieuser555 It's the Spectrum version hacked to run on Pac-Man hardware, yes. Obviously I know I could run that instead, but I wanted to run this.

Happily, I found the ROM eventually and you can indeed play it in Retropie by renaming it to pacman.zip and running it with (for example) lr-mame2003.

@roslof I agree. It can probably be done on retropie. I run space invaders with the mame2016 core via retroarch.

I know this topic is really old but i had the same problem myself and solved it. I noticed that the button mappings in RetroArch interfered with MAME 2010's mappings. One button could mean one thing in RetroArch but another in MAME so RetroArch would say to MAME something like - Hey! We also want to press this button!

What i did was that i blanked out the button mappings in RetroArch so they're seen as ---. After this my MAME mappings worked straight away. Then saved it as a content (game) specific configuration.

Will great if the MAME menu appear when pressing the Hotkey & 2P button (or any other key combination)

You should be able to setup a hotkey of sorts, or align it with the RA hotkey. Just press Enter on the TAB field and then one button followed by a second button in quick succession. Actually it could be 3 or whatever. You'll just need to make sure it's not a key combo that RA is using to avoid two "actions" happening at once.

@Cayaco said in Final Fight 30th Anniversary Mame Mod:

Updated packages and ready to go.

According to the docs mame2003plus uses the .78 mame romset, is this correct? The patch is not working on that version. Does this hack require a newer edition that wouldn't work within Retroie?

I purposely made sure the new clone rom for ffightae would work off the original MAME78 ffight parent rom, so if you have that in your set and it's correct for MAME2003
you'd just drop fightae.zip into your roms folder and it'll work fine, i know it did for me a while back when i tested the game after adding support for it.

The file should be /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulators.cfg - if you've chosen from the Runcommand launch menu an emulator for a ROM, then this is where the association is saved.
