No, as i said, you are trying to launch games for 1 system (neogeo pocket games) with an emulator for another system (lr-neocd, which emulates neogeo cd) while using the bios for a third system (neogeo mvs/aes). You need to decide on 1 system.

If it's for your father, you can never go wrong with neogeo aes/mvs, which was the dream console for anyone from my generation. Neogeo cd was the "cheap" version of that console, and while emulation cancel its main drawback (loading time), the graphics are still inferior to the mvs/aes and the games use more storage, so i don't recommend it. Neogeo pocket was a handheld, and a niche one.

Documentation about neogeo emulation is there : https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Neo-Geo/ . You'll have to read all of it and the linked documentation specific to the emulator you'll chose, otherwise i think you can give up on neogeo emulation.

@RpiBeginner feels like a defective sd card for me

with a CRT display there's a certain amount of image retention which makes these fast flickering shadows appear just as transparent grey, with the floor visible underneath. i thought there's shaders out there that fake the same effect for modern screens, but i can't find them...

Yeah, it was the principality of it, saving and loading game specific options in a global config. I think I could not get either the macros or cabinet settings to work this way, rendering them beyond completely pointless. I think the actual cabinet settings for the retroarch core are saved in /roms/neogeo/FBA/ along with high score, and I don't know what was up with the macros.

i dont have anything different with the neogeo core other then the overlay. so adding the line to disable override is going to work for me.

but still knowing a different way is good to know just in case

Which emulator are you using? FBA works fine without "neogeo.zip" in the roms folder. I have it just in the BIOS folder.

@Rubencn1234 Check to make sure you have the right BIOS file. neogeo.zip needs to be ~1.5 MB and CRC-32 should be 20F12195

So far I did not explicitly test the GamepadBlock with a Neogeo controller. Can you post a link to the controller that you have?

Looking at the pin out at http://old.pinouts.ru/Game/NeoGeoJoystick_pinout.shtml the integration of Neogeo support should be quite easy.

@box4me Btw, is this your site ? Are you by any chance selling RetroPie with arcade cabinets ? Are you also including ROMs with your cabinets ?

Ok so I took a copy and then updated lr-fbalpha and it works with the neogeo.zip in the BIOS directory :)
