I think this topic should be in "Help and Support" as I would have expected someone to have responded by now.

You might have a similar problem to the one here: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/18637/zero-delay-joystick-not-working-upleft-and-downright-directions-others-are-good-i-m-running-a-pi3-with-retropie/4

I did have a similar problem to you (but not the same) with zero delay arcade joysticks. I fixed it. Try this first. The 5 pin connector may be attached the wrong way around. I bought 4 or 5 similar joysticks about 3 years ago. The connector (ie the connector to the joystick) connects both ways but only one way is right. When I connected mine upside down, it would read only a couple of the directions until I turned it the other way around. I found back then there was no way of telling which way was right and which wrong - at least when connected to the Pi.

@mrinfected101 Well, I am at a loss. Since your original post says that the emulators work with the keyboard, just not with the joystick, I gotta believe there is something amiss with the adafruit/retrogame configuration. In some ways, RetroPie is working, but your adafruit stuff isn't.

I know controller setup is the most common challenge people face with RetroPie, but this one might be better asked of Adafruit. Perhaps they have some specific suggestions for when this comes up. I would definitely open a dialog on their forum if you haven't already.

@TMNTturtlguy Effectively i have thought about it and it is a good idea, but i have already one usb port used by my keyboard, another one by my hard disk, and i would like to keep 2 usb ports free. It would let me to eventually connect other devices such as bluetooth guns (to play "time crisis" for instance) or to add 2 more arcade joystick for 4 players game and so on. I could use a usb HUB to do all theses things but i dont want to add too many intermediate electronic composants to the chanel. Either way if it had been the only solution, i will have chosen this method :)

And if someone who reads this topics has the same issues that i have encountered, i'm hoping he will follow your advice. That's the easiest way too do. I think. ^^

Thank you for everything my friend. Cheers from France

@mvgilpatrick your chances to get help increases if you open a new thread specific to your issue. Be sure to give as much info about your setup as possible (good advice on how to get help here: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first ).

Showing ways to reproduce your issue always helps.

Thanks BuZz! I'll try that in the morning. I'd had my keyboard connected the entire time, so that's likely the issue.
