@duglor Hi, on the Apple 2 emulator, when you hit f9 to change palettes, can you save the change on a per game basis or only the entire system? Be well!

Some of the palettes are built-in into the emulator and they don't have a file on disc associated. Only when you choose custom as the core option you need to provide a palette file in the BIOS folder.

The name of the file depends on the emulator, if you're using the default NES emulator (fceumm), then the file must be named nes.pal, see https://docs.libretro.com/library/fceumm/#custom-color-palettes. If you're using the nestopia core, the file is named custom.pal.

@sleve_mcdichael said in HELP: lr-gambatte > no green color anymore with "custom" GB-colorization:

Once the menu is accessed, you can select "Launch with verbose logging."

After you quit the game, the log will be saved to /dev/shm/runcommand.log.

This location is a temp filesystem that only exists in memory. You must access the file while the Pi is running, without shutting down or rebooting. (Specifically, you cannot pull the SD card and read the file off it from another computer.)

Unfortunately, this location is also not accessible via the network share. You should copy it to one that is.

Many thanks for the hint. I did know about that feature, but I couldn't find the exact path of the log-file! Your info will help me alot in the future. Thanks!!

You may have stumbled upon this bug. Can you try updating from source again and try loading a game to see if the palette works ?

      That's it. FIXED. Many thanks!!!

      @mitu

      Thanks man!

@mitu said in How do I change NES color palette?:

Can I do that for SNES also?

I don't think that for SNES emulators such a think exists. What are you actually interested in ?

Make the colors more like the real Snes. But maybe I´ll just use a CRT filter of some sort instead :)

My bad, I worded my issue incorrectly.
I am having issues getting the palette to load at all.
If I could get it to load, I know I can save the configuration for the specific ROM.

@thelostsoul said in NES PAL color reproduction in le-nestopia:

So its possible with both emulators.

Yes it is. They both even share many, if not all, of the same filters. However, in a few cases, the filters have different names.

Nestopia is said to be more accurate and less problems with sound production

Neither core will run every game, so you'll probably want both if you're looking for maximum coverage. lr-nestopia does seem to handle some of the more finicky unlicensed titles, like 'Action 52' that lr-fceumm won't even launch.

My main question is, what should I set them to if I want a similiar experience like my old PAL tv?

I'm a Statesman myself, so that'll best be answered by someone else.

@joemommasfat the wavebeam palette has been updated on Oct. 1: https://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?p=1278210&sid=2c1592ad8deb319edb55e150df8730b2#p1278210

i don't really have time at the moment to get the color codes, and the way i did it last time was very tedious. if you're still around and willing to do another pull request for fceumm, that would be much appreciated. ifnot, i will most likely have time to put it together this coming weekend.
