I've been using cso as well. I don't really feel any difference than using iso.

So in creating PBP files are they compatible with real PSP hardware running CFW?

I should note that I found out with Resident Evil 2 it is a 2 disc game, but depending which disc you start with depends on the character/story. You still need to swap with the other disc part way through. For this I have combined them both discs twice, so two PBP files, one going 1-2 and the other 2-1.

@Eims said in [PSX] Convert various source files into a single *.pbp:

@mitu Well, I have the .bin and .cue files currently available and would like to process them further.

OK, so you should be able to convert them to .pbp - isn't this what you intend to do ? If the .cue file is correct, then that's all you need.

Note that some CDs don't have only 1 .cue + 1 .bin, if the CD has both a data track and multiple audio trackes, you'd have multiple .bin files.
For instance, In the Hunt has alot of audio tracks, so the .cue should be accompanied by multiple .bin files - http://redump.org/disc/7676/.

There is indeed a 32-bit pointer limitation with PBP, so any archive > ~2.1GB will fail to load any content after it (e.g. the last disc in FF8).

      The Problem was located:
When using pbp files with sbi files the extension both must be lower or uppercase.
Having them mixed will result in the emulator not finding the sbi file since linux systems are casesensitve.

multidisc PBP Systax is as described in the sourcecode comment above.

      Problem solved!
Turns out I was missing the PSX bios. Don't know how I managed to play other games without ever needing them, but once I paid attention to the message "bios missing, add them for better compatibility" and placed them on the BIOS folder, everything turned out better. Games that crashed before no longer do so and I can now switch discs on Resident Evil 2 just like you all told me (eject, switch, close, reset) from the .pbp file.

@edmaul69 I had it in there initially but I took it out, it's Resident Evil 2, so the actual structure looks like:

      • Resident Evil 2 (Leon Disk 1).bin
      • Resident Evil 2 (Leon Disk 1)(Track 2 audio).bin
      • Resident Evil 2 (Claire Disk 2).bin
      • Resident Evil 2 (Claire Disk 2)(Track 2 audio).bin

I know the topic is old but for for anyone interested: I tried many ways to compress this game and found no way the cd music will play consistently unless played uncompressed, in fact the rom I got the best results with was one with img/sub files (SLUS-00955) and is pretty stable (almost 700 meg though)
