      @Retro-Arcade-Fan said in Philips CD-I install update?:

      I still see lr-mess. Is it supposed to say mamemess_libretro.so?

      The name of the package (as it appears in the setup script) is still lr-mess, the filename of the libretro core included is mamemess_libretro.so, installed in the /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-mess package folder.

      @melovegames

      Thanks !

      And did my advice using mame with -autoframeskip or the video-mode help ?

      With mame you can also use the F8 and F9 to specify your own frameskipping.
      F11 will show the frameskipping information.

      @db666
      You're welcome.
      Glad to hear my script is being used :)

      For your information, @valerino also made a script for Philips CDI.
      https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/25576/new-scriptmodules-lr-vice-xvic-gsplus-proper-lr-mess-integration
      (I did not test that script, it seems it lacks things like mouse, joystick and fullscreen support.
      But it seems that he figured out that short named files are not necessary anymore)
      It should be nice if the knowledge of both scripts could be combined in the future.

      Another way to run CD-i (cdimono1) with MAME standalone (like MESS without Lr)

      go in /opt/retropie/configs/cdimono1
      open your emulators.cfg

      add:

      mame-CD-i= "/opt/retropie/emulators/mame/mame -c -autoframeskip cdimono1 -cdrm %ROM%"

      To set your "Input (general)" and "Input(this Machine), follow step 10 and 11 of this Tutorial.
      Tutorial: Handheld and Plug & Play systems with MAME

      You can use .chd without specific MAME naming and without dummy file.

      Hi,

      A question for you. How well does advmess emulate philips CDI ?

      My answer to your question:
      I use Arcadia because this directory is automatically created when lr-mess is installed, so then there was no need to implement this in my script (no need to add cdimono1 as a system in /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg) . Basically if the system cdimono1 is not in the es_system.cfg, software will not show up in emulationstation, that's the reason why.

      Actually this script was made to bundle all the knowledge found on the internet to make CDI working without having to make an enormous effort every time to get it working.

      The second goal should be to implement the knowledge in an official retropie-script. In this stage the rom-directory should be made like you said.
