Note that if you add or remove games, they will not show up/disappear unless you disable this option so that EmulationStation will write the correct/updated gamelist.

As I have all the ROMs I want collected (that's why it takes so long for the EmuStation to read) I will give it a try.
Thanx

I thought it must be a video problem but if it is emulating like this (the way it is supposed to be) then it is no problem. I am pretty sure Mario Kart 64 was intended for CRTs as well so that is why there are those lines. I also run PSX and N64 at a low res so that they perform well. I will probably dump some PSX Bios and configure some settings so that I get access to all the benefits of the system.
Once again thank you to everyone's support.

@wmarcio my apologies, I only included the specific images to be as precise as possible, if I deleted the post and reposted without reference to those specific images would that be more appropriate?

It's not about appropriate; it's about the fact that those are not official RetroPie products. They are repackaged with with copyrighted material and violate the user license. Unless you are trying to install an official image, you won't get help here.

I used DOSBox to run spaint.exe and I created the .pcx (blank image) that were missing in the icons.spe file (from the nums0016.pcx to the nums0045.pcx), so I created a new icons.spe file and now it works correctly .
Here is the modified icons.spe file to work: https://github.com/Xenoveritas/abuse/files/2264348/icons.zip

@kidcy It's obviously not meant to happen. Did you buy a Pi3B+ by any chance?
If it is the "plus" you need the image from this forum and not from the download page.

Thank you Jonnykesh. I've actually got retropie (pi3b+ beta) running! Nice to finally see something on screen!
Now to try and get some games :)

Espgaluda - I'm currently taking a brave step into the world of bullet hell. Love this one.
Street Fighter 3 Alpha - I got my son into Street Fighter and we enjoy learning new moves together. Amazing 2d artwork in these.
Wipeout + Wip3out - Wipeout pushed the world of gaming into mainstream acceptance. Looks cool has great 90s club music and brilliant visual design. (I'm partial as I used to work with one of the designers) And of course it's got great gameplay.
Sonic - Favorite game of my yuf.
Golden Axe - Used to play this with my brother and we still do now and then.
(Also I'm playing through Super Metroid right now for the first time, I love the music and the different areas.)
