      @zzz

      Thanks for your solution, it's doing most of the job for me, but neither of my joysticks seem to wake the device back up. A keyboard stroke does wake the device though.

      They are cheapo $40 amazon joystick kits, registering as js0/js1. Pi 3b+.

      I tried OP's script, but it appears to not stay off for more than a couple seconds.

      Were you able to find a workaround perhaps?

      @cyperghost

      Just made use of your mult_switch.sh script.

      I'm using it for a momentary switch on a 3B running retropie 4.4.1

      Worked great thanks.

      @Lurker thank you for this detail, also super helpful for me. I am considering doing the same thing but using this switch (Pilot Automotive PL-SW26 Performance Toggle Switch with Red Safety Cover https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000GTMUUI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6uZQDbMXHJDGD). I don’t have any electrical experience - can I ask you what the difference would be here given this only has 2 connectors vs the 3 in the other switch?

      so ,i was kinda overloaded with stuff didn't realy proceed with what i posted, i am back to making the arcade now ,still i am fazed with this problem ,since i am gonna be making a shutdown/boot button for the pi,if i connect in parrallel to this connection the button that you push to manually open the TV is it gonna work ?.My main concern is frying the pi due to the tv being a higher power device ,should i use a relay for that kind of work?.

      @meleu said in Powering off via UI while using a Mausberry Circuit:

      Do all the steps I showed on that topic and try to reboot your system. Describe here what happens.

      And then perform this command: sudo systemctl disable killes; sudo systemctl stop killes and reboot your system. Describe here what happens.

      SO, for starters, I have already done what you prescribed in the other thread to build the service and the killes.sh. Mine is till in the ~/bin folder, which is fine by me for now. After setting the killes.sh as executable, it works great! That is to say, I can do a software shutdown from command line for instance, and it definitely saves my metadata. Favorites and custom collections are awesome. Moreover, my additional line which triggers the NPN transistor does indeed let the Mausberry circuit know that a shutdown is imminent and it properly notices the drop on the GPIO it is monitoring and it cuts power. I really like this clever solution.

      It also cuts power when I initiate a reboot. That makes sense to me, and for now I am willing to live with it. The point is that software shutdown requests properly exit ES and no longer lock up my Mausberry circuit.

      Seems to me, the improvement to this would be to set a conditional statement before my GPIO command to trigger the transistor such that it checks to see if this is a shutdown/poweroff or if this is a reboot. I just don't know what to check to verify one way or the other--yet.

      As for your command above, I initiated the command as you suggested and the system immediately did a shutdown, mausberry circuit powered off.

      Are you sure you wait enough time for shutdown before using the power switch ?
      Could you post a link to your PSU model ?
      Did you modify any config before shutdown ?
      Do you have powersaving outlet that could cut power before complete shutdown ?
      Does just a reboot work (without switching off power) ?

      So it's definitely like that when you press the power button, the metadata in ES will not be saved. Does anyone have experience in it? That one changes the mouseberry script, which is first closed ES and then the PI drove down?

      Ok after so much testing found out to be a user error

      I was just unplugging it from the base of the unit, where unit connects to the power but when I unplug it from the plug by the power plug not the adapter it works just fine :) All is well

      nothing got corrupted
