@gojo said in Can't open any options but games work:

I paid good money for this card and need it to work. I don't have a working backup yet. Learning the hard way.

We don't support scammers selling pre-loaded systems. Ask them for support or use the image from retropie.org.uk/download.

Just to let you know, I had a similar issue that was really frustrating.

Long story short - it turned out to be an incompatible SD Card. The SD Card still works fine in other devices I have, but refused to work in the Pi4

I followed many helpful tutorials about editing files to get the display working, tried other imgs, spent a long time trying, but it was something about the no name SD Card that gave me misery.

      My personal experience.

I had issues trying to write the retropie image to the sd card a couple of times after there was already a retropie/linux installation on the card. I had to delete both partitions manually, then recreate and format to fat32 again because win32 imager wouldn't overwrite the card, it was wrongly making me choose one of the two existing partitions to write to.

Also, unless I'm mistaken, it sounds like you merely want to copy roms to the Pi itself, not run it off of a usb stick permanently, so just follow these 8 steps : https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Transferring-Roms#usb-stick
