NES and SNES cores not allowing access to Retroarch

I have a Raspberry Pi 4 running the latest version of Retropie

      Which is version ... ?

[..] I deleted the Retroarch.cfg file and now NES and Snes won't allow me access in game to retroarch.

That's never a good idea, since RetroArch would then create a default configuration for the system, which trumps the RetroPie configurations and leads to all sorts of errors.

Any ideas on how to fix? Thanks in advance!

Remove the retroarch.cfg file for the NES/SNES system then immediately re-install the NES/SNES emulators so that RetroPie will add the correct RetroArch configuration - otherwise you'll get into issues again when starting from a stock RetroArch configuration.

@Fantasens said in Sound not working with HifiBerry Rapberry Pi 4 with OSMC:

Is there no way to configure Retropie so that it behaves like Kodi by playing audio from both the TV and the Audio card?

'RetroPie' - or rather EmulationStation - uses ALSA. If you can configure ALSA so that it behaves like Kodi with the default card/output, then EmulationStation - and probably emulators - are going to work the way you want.

The only configuration for ALSA that RetroPie does is the one from the Audio menu, where you can choose between the audio outputs present on a Pi - Analog/HDMI. For more complex configuration you'll need to configure ALSA yourself.

Does that point to a hardware failure?

      Most likely yes.

@solidshook not an expert, my understanding is that tvservice is used heavily in CRT guides/scripts, and this is only partially functional on pi4, since it is a call to the fkms firmware layer that is being depreciated.

raspberry pi are instead moving to the open source driver stack, which aims to be a more standard KMS offering, where the way to use custom modes is via DRM modesetting or xandr, the latter of which relies on X which retropie doesn't use by default, and i believe the former might not have enough flexibility.

still, an approach should be possible, with some work.

      Deleting the file at
      /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulators.cfg
Put the ROMs back to the default emulators
