      @retropieuser555

      I would love to, but, I can't seem to get the save file to work between mupen64plus and lr-mupen.

      Lr-mupen saves data as a .SRA file, mupen64plus saves it as .SRM . I have been unable to convert the srm to sra.

      Any ideas on how to accomplish this? I've tried pj64tosrm and other utilities, carefully checked the directories and names, etc.

      Could try to mount the folder instead of symbolic link?

      mount --bind /opt/retropie/configs/nds/drastic/backup /home/pi/RetroPie/saves

      Try it first manually, if it works for you, add the mount command to autostart.sh or rc.local

      Using the official image is relatively quick, easy, and free to do.

      Thanks for the reply!

      You can launch discs for supported cores by starting any rom for the system in question first (which avoids having you to load up a core first before launching a disc) and then selecting "load disc" from the retroarch menu.

      You're right, defining a per-system folder for the savefiles is a good idea, but it doesn't help with the save states, which is indeed a retroarch problem.

      @BreadPie said in Any alternatives to symlinks for organizing non-libretro savegames?:

      I just get "Failed to create symbolic link" and "Operation not permitted"

      That's because the filesystem ( the roms folder ) doesn't understand symlinks.

      Please add more info about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
      The save file is done by RetroArch, which I haven't heard or see to work that (doesn't matter the which core is used).

      @shmonroe
      If you're playing European(Pal) on easy and not for zero retries, zero kills, zero time caught. Save file is right after sniper wolf.
      You can use Memcardrex to check if there is anything in the srm, that is in the link too, but there probably isn't anything there.
      Emulator closing would sometimes happen when I didn't have enough gpu memory, but I can't say for certain if it would help, the Gpu memory split option is entered from raspi-config advanced settings.

      @mitu

      Well after I accidentally asked the system to install retropie again through an in software menu it wouldn't even let me boot up because it said I had no memory left. I reformatted the SD card and re-flashed it and put my roms back on and everything works 100% correctly now! I'm not positive of what was actually wrong but possibly it was full of something?

      Thank you for your time and responses :D.

      @crickentine I share your enthusiasm about FFVII but I'd disagree with the game getting good after Midgar. The game is already brilliant during Midgar so if it doesn't take hold of you then, it probably never will.
      The only thing that does get better is the combat (more varied and difficult).

      Maybe your changes messed up your retroarch.cfg files. It might help if you give us your configuration for savestate_directory.

      Can you run this and give us the output:
      cd /opt/retropie/configs
      grep -r 'savestate_directory' ./

      This tool MPKEdit does what you want. load the .N64 file then save it as a normal .MPK which can then be converted to Mupen's .srm format with whatever tool you have.

      Edit: OK so you're trying to extract EEPROM saves from an MPK file, not trying to use an actual controller pak save. Open the .N64 in MPKEdit, then Hold Control (save icons for note should turn red) and click the save icon. then rename it as required, convert it to SRM as required, etc.
