On the https://screenscraper.fr site, there's a list titled "Server" in the upper right of the page. There, you can see the current CPU workload in percent. If the load gets too high, the green checkmarks will go red to show that these users will be blocked from scraping until the load goes down. Non-registered users will be blocked first, then registered, then (maybe) contributors.

So, I guess registering will get you blocked later. But I'm not registered there so I can't tell you for sure.

Scraper doesn't like some formats. I had a gamegear set in 7zip and it wouldn't scrap other then one zip file I had there. Lucky I had that game otherwise I wouldn't noticed it.

@hurricanefan I don't think so, I believe they are just empty files. Retropie uses svm to launch games and recallbox uses scummvm files. The point is, when I tried to scrape them, only the scummvm files where linked to the games.
Oh, forgot to mention that you either have to rename your files to scummvm, scrape, rename them back to svm. Or edit your gamelist.xml afterwards.

Glad you got it as you wished :) Here i've just tried Universal XML Scraper V2, it's indeed quite powerful as it allows you different layouts like screenshot + box art + large title or arcade cabinet layouts (with very few unknowns or failures).

That's been a problem with a lot of people with that type of controller. Although I can't seem to think there are any ways to fix it, but if someone can, that'd be great.

Sorry for the late response... Holidays, ho ho ho and all. I know I would be all for that personally. Especially when it comes to releasing quality of life bug fixes like this. Editing the gamelists by hand is no fun. I believe the 'Last Played' limit has also yet to make it out of the development branch.

For information, Screenscraper is a "young" DB ;) (a little more than 1 year old and already one of the most if it isn't the most "complete" DB ;) ).
All data aren't referenced, and some mistake may pass throught the moderator validation (we are human after all ^^)

If you found "wrong" information, or a "missing" information, don't hesitate to propose or comment the error directly on the website.
Information are from the community... If every one participate, we can have a nice DB ;)

Thanks so much for your patience, this obviously did the trick. What I did is put that command in /opt/retropie/configs/all/autostart.sh, before emulationstation is called (otherwise the games didn't show up in ES because the USB wasn't yet properly mounted). It's still unclear to me why games can be accessed via symlink in ES, but the parser cannot access them. Oh well, the workaround works, and I hope future Googlers will find it easily. Phew!

There is a command line flag but it isn't exposed in the RetroPie-setup script -mame_img and -console_img These accept an ordered list of image preferences which RetroPie-setup sets to -mame_img="t,m,s" and -console_img="b" So the order is Title, Marquee, Snap for mame. You can exit EmulationStation and run this from the command line with something like this but cd to the rom folder you want to scrape.

cd ~/RetroPie/roms/mame /opt/retropie/supplementary/scraper/scraper -mame -mame_img="s,t,m"

if i delete a rom within emulationstation does it also delete all the scraped data for it aswell?

if i want to backup all my data from the sd card using samba shares. which folder contains the scraped info?

On the pi it is /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation or /home/pi/.emulationstation and via samba share it is (I guess) configs/all/emulationstation

What Scraper are you using ? If it's the default ES one then maybe you have the "user decides conflicts" option on. With Off it does the job for all games (for the systems you selected).
