My favourite is probably an SNES emulator I came across a while back. I think the retropie is the best way to host it, but recently I've been looking at some alternatives to Raspberry Pi: https://www.1and1.com/digitalguide/server/know-how/raspberry-pi-alternatives-single-board-computers-to-check-out/

out of interest and I wonder how well they might handle an SNES or even a PSX emulator. But as far as the retropie goes, it hosts the SNES emulator like a champ; the frame rate is great and everything ran smoothly. I just wish I could remember the name of it. When I do I'll add it below.

Its been a while since i implemented this and everything works just fine. I wonder though, would it be technically possible to load a different splash video or splash screen depending on the loaded es_system file?

For example, for console games a splash video and for arcade games a different splash video.

      @darknior That was just a joke :)

Yes the method from meleu and me needs heavy handwork. I hope that pjft and Zigurana can do an integreated system. For myself I'm happy with my coding - I often did not challenged in the mame rows because I forgot the week winner title :(

@dankcushions I figured it had to have been asked many times before. I personally merge all the sega systems together. It was just the inconsistency that made me ask. both are cart systems with cd add-ons but one is separate, one is merged.

You could argue that the supergrafx was a separate system not just an add-on like the 32x but with only 5 games who wants to split that out!

There is one problem with merging though. sselphs scraper doesn't find sega cd titles or pce cd titles if they are in the megadrive or pcengine folders so they have to be scraped manually, the built in scraper doesn't find them either (the system is part of the search criteria and it's the wrong system).

Hi, yes they are, I've checked everything amd after asking in various other places it may be that the issue is retrosmc as I'm using that instead of retropie

The poll has had 80 responses so I thought I'd sort them for all to see. You'll notice ones like Megadrive/Genesis have both their combined total and their individual totals. I think this is good info to have.

Unsurprisingly, SNES, NES, PSX and Megadrive/Genesis are at the top of the list.

Here are the results so far:

      SNES/Super Famicom - 81
      Megadrive/Genesis - 80
      NES/Famicom - 70
SNES - Super Nintendo Entertainment System - 66

      SAM Coupé - 0
      TI-99 - 0
      TRS-80 - 0

Edit: I just realised SNES/Super Famicom has 81 points, even though there have only been 80 entries. I guess a few someones out there have their SNES and Super Famicom Roms separate.

@FlyingTomahawk that's pretty much what I did for MetaPixel; made the systems I might use, then told people how to make their own other systems. That was mostly laziness on my part, and I didn't have to even make any of the art assets for each system.

The instructions state "Remove Border Before Use". Does that mean to cut the white border between the design and the edge of the sticker off?

Yeah that's what I did with mine. Cut the white borders off before I stuck it to my case.

Olde Core2Duo MacMini 2009 remains the best. It still runs all modern stuff, does decent N64 including upscaling to 1920x1200 and it is easy to configure and boots nice (with space invader replacing the apple off course).
