Do you have the SSH enable from the raspi-config > Interfacing Options menu?

If it is enable, then, try to restart the router and the pi, maybe this will help.

      I've got autosync back.

      So super happy.

Thought for some reason I lost this feature for sure.

Addendum: You can also do that in the Linux command shell.

cd /opt/retropie/configs find -type f -newermt yesterday

-type f lists only files, not directories.
-newermt yesterday shows only files whose modification time is newer than yesterday.

If you append -ls to the command, you'll get a more detailed output.

find -type f -newermt yesterday -ls

      See here for more examples.

There's also an easy way to transfer your ROMs automatically from an FAT32 or exFAT formatted USB stick. I don't know if NTFS will work with this, too.

@Impman66 said in Is WinSCP or Putty necessary?:

So it begs the question, is WinSCP, Putty, or any other "file sharing" program necessary?

no, there are 3 supported methods of copying roms, and you're simply using the third: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Transferring-Roms/#samba-shares

Have you logged into the pi with this IP address before? Make sure you have the right IP address of the Pi.

Have you accessed any of the ssh config files recently? I've done this and made a typo rendering the configuration useless.

To find the ip address in four ways. With a keyboard plugged into the pi, press F4 and use the CLI to type in ifconfig you'll want to use the inet address of either the wlan0 or eth0 interface.

There is a menu option in emulationstation that will give the ip address most of the time.

And with windows you could type arp -a to check the arp cache for the address it will be one of the dynamic addresses of the associated interface.

Of course you want to make sure that it is connected, with ethernet you will know. With a router I guess you could log in to the router and check the ip address there.

You should start with ssh, when you get the right address I'll help with winscp.

@Clyde Well ifconfig works just fine in Debian Stretch / Retropie 4.4

I just tested it in the linux terminal. It also seems that ip addr works as well.

So doesnt matter which one will be used. Either one will do just fine. :-)

      @sano @mitu thanks for the reply’s I sorted it.

I used WinSCP and played about with the synchronise button on there and it worked a treat!
Downloaded wheel arts and renamed all the ps1, Gbc and GBA files I downloaded them through a torrent and must have been badly named.

      Thanks

thanks for the extract. Since I can't copy - i went thru it line by line and could not find any differences. I thought maybe I added a character somewhere and this is what i needed to validate.

I really appreciate your help. if you (or anyone) has any other ideas, I am willing to try!
