I'm new to all of this, so forgive me if this is a dumb question. I've tried searching everywhere for this problem, but cannot find an answer. On the RetroPie Wiki is says to go into setup to be able to use the 360 controller. But I can't even get to the setup. I get a couple errors and then it goes back to the RetroPie screen and freezes on me. I have to unplug the power to reset it. These are the last two errors I get:

      sh: 1: /opt/retropie/supplementary/emulationstation/scripts/inputconfiguration.sh: not found

sudo: unable to to execute / home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_packages.sh: no such file or directory

      Pi Model: 3
      RetroPie Version Used: 3.7
      Built From: SD Image
USB Devices connected: Keyboard/mouse doggle and 360
Controller used: Trying to connect 360
Guide used: Youtube video from TechTipsta

I appreciate any help. I received my Pi 3 kit today and am trying to get this thing going.

      Thanks.

@ARabidGolpher did you follow this guide? https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/First-Installation

Possibly bad power supply or corrupt SD card

@ARabidGolpher I agree with Herb. That Wiki is great. The simplest thing to do would be to redo the SD card and try to boot again.

@herb_fargus The YouTube video on that page is the one I used to install it. I can always read through it and try again. I bought the Canakit from Amazon that came with the 2.5A power supply for the Pi 3. So I'm not sure that would be an issue. Trying a different SD card couldn't hurt either. I'll start the process over and see what happens. Thanks for the feedback.

@glennlake I'll give it another go.

@herb_fargus I just wrote the file to my SD card again and everything works fine now. Weird. Appreciate the help.

@ARabidGolpher glad it worked out. Sometimes with the initial write it can get borked. Always helps to have another sd card just in case. I've never had any issues with my sandisk ultra micro SD cards.

@ARabidGolpher I've done my share of bad SD builds.

@herb_fargus You can never have enough cards. I'll pick up some scandisks.
