What games are you playing this week? 2017-05-08
-
Those are the ones I prefer most. It's a bit like 'NES Remix'. I wish every game had more of them.
-
@meleu
Yeah, I also prefer the funny ones. These remind me of the "Little Rocket Man" trophy/achievement for Half-Life 2. There's a garden gnome near the beginning of the game that you have to carry with you through most of the game and put it in a rocket just before you blast it off into space lol. I accomplished this on my 2nd play-through. I remember taking screenshots of the gnome along the way! -

Hydrophobia: don't touch the water on stage 1.
Don't press left in stage 1.I actually got both of those on my first run, unknowingly.
-
@lilbud you didn't press left "accidentally" or did you think "I'll go all over this stage without touching left on the d-pad"?
I think the part where one may have a strong desire to press left is while positioning to shoot the boss.
-
@meleu I just didn't press left at all, never thought about it.
-
I think I'm done with gorillas for this week...
I don't have enough patience to try to complete the game without losing a life. So I think I can survive without that badge. :-)
Now I'm going to try to focus on eliminating an old item I have on my "things to do before die" list since I was 12 years old: finish Little Nemo - The Dream Master (NES).

@meleu I must live in a cave, this is the first I've heard of retroarchievements.org. There goes the rest of my day. ;)

One less item on my list! Woohoo!!!
OK. I miraculously found a little free time this week and played video games desperately. Finished Donkey Kong (Gameboy), Toki (NES) and Little Nemo (NES). Now I will try to play with python and try to implement what I commented in this topic.
-
You're on quite a role. If I happen to read about you solving chess this week I won't be surprised.
-
@mediamogul I'm afraid my english skills put me on one of those situations pointed out by @backstander in another topic. Then I'm gonna follow his advice:

Sorry, it was a math joke (if you really stretch the definition of "joke"). Don't worry, the only other one I know is that 3 out of 2 people have trouble with fractions.
-
-
That's a good one! It's also great to see a pi joke that's not a food pun.
-
BTW...the game Eador: Genesis is free today on GoG.com! This is in celebration of Gremlins, Inc. being added for purchase through GoG!
Also Dungeon 2 is free on HumbleBundle.com as well! This games is kind of like Dungeon Keeper (one of my favorites from back in the day).
And...you can get Party Hard 2 Alpha for free at this link (HumbleBundle.com)! Just scroll over halfway down the page and enter your email address.

F zero!!!! <3

Pac-Mania is kicking my butt for this week's MAME ROW. Mother is fantastic and I'm going to be continuing it.
Does anyone have a "New" 3DS XL? I have been thinking about picking one up as I see you can get them on eBay for around $100. It'd mainly be for platformers and RPGs. I also see that there's a pretty active homebrew/emulation scene for them, but in looking at the installation process it seems like homebrew is pretty easy, but custom firmware is pretty involved. I really wouldn't want to brick the thing just to play some backups or old SNES games.

I think it's unable to make you earn cheevos using it. :-P
-
@obsidianspider I just hacked my old 3DS, the process is simple as long as you follow directions. If you have an old 3ds, you are limited to NES, Genesis, GB and GBC.
