Game/Interface Problems

I just built my own Retropie device using the guide on Adafruit's website. After building it i loaded the thing with some games. It worked for about a day, and then whenever I go to open a game, it immediately quits back to the rom page. Also, when I go to quit Emulationstation to see if I could open a command line to fix the game problem, the screen just goes completely black with no way of inputing text or powering down the system. Also same with any other options in the Retropie menu(ie. black screen when trying to see IP address) Plz help
