Hello again, yes i will need some help with 1 or 2 more thing ( for now loll )

The first one, i will start with the permisions: I honestly dont know if it is a problem or not but i just would like to make sure it is not. I have moved all my roms in an external HDD ( formatted in ntfs but seen as an ext4 from my raspberry pi) that is connected to my router and for that everything works ok. My concern is about the permission that as some differences. I still have not deleted all the roms that are still on my microsd and i went to compare the permissions from the roms on the microsd and my shared HDD and i see that for every folders whithin my roms in the microsd there is the owner and group is pi but in the same folder from my shared HDD, it is root. Can that be a problem ? Games are still starting ans seem to work ok but i want to make sure please.

the permissions about the read/write etc... stayed the same though

Second problem if i may put it in the same thread, All my nds roms from my external HDD dont start anymore but if i change the path in the fstab to the old roms ( for nds ) in my microsd, then they work. How is that ?? Only nds does that, all other roms work great from the external HDD

I think i may delete the nds anyway because even when they start ( from the microsd ) they are unplayable and the audio is so crapy. They lag like hell. It is weird because my friend has the same raspebrry pi 3 then me except that he has raspbian without pixel and he can play nds games without any problem. For me it is really unplayable and my memory split is at 256, just like him so i dont understand that one.

      thanks again in advance ;)

@darthlink I know nothing of using an external HDD for ROMs so I'll leave that for someone else. They reason your friend's DS games run well is probably because he is using DraStic emulator. You sound like you are / were using lr-desmume , which is a pile of shite on the Pi. It just does not run any games at a playable speed.

@darthlink It depends. It has been removed from the latest set-up script. Go into experimental and see if it is there. If not, we can still sort it.

I have juste verified and it is not in the optional ports and not either in the experimental.

I have juste downloaded the emulator and unzipped it in a folder but i have no idea where to put the files ?

I see in a folder that there is 2 bios for drastic, 1 is arm7 and the other one is arm9. I also see an executale named drastic and other .xml and .dat file and drastic logo 1 and 2 wich are .raw

any idea where or what i do with those please ?

              Should i uninstall lr-desmume ?

Is drastic going to be also in the es_systems.cfg file ? i am asking because afterward, i will have to manually change the default path of where the roms are located.

I have just saw a setup file for drastic here: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/commit/cd1324f7ed057f39247492082e89336b557294c9#diff-c401071154fb446a819cedc5bd9de2d0

is that something that would work ? if yes, what do do with this please ?

Ok found it, it is in RetroPie-Setup. I have uninstall lr-desmume and installed drastic. I will test it a little later after a reboot then let you know if it works or not ;) thx.

                        @darthlink, @AlexMurphy

A word of caution here. This method might conflict in the future and it's possible the continued recommendation could impede relations with the developer. We removed the direct ability to install DraStic to respect his wishes. Recommending an easy installation on these forums only serves to negate that goal and potentially any hope of including a final release in the future.

You're OK. This is more about getting the word out there for the future. The whole situation is up in the air at the moment and while there's probably no need to delete this entirely, I'll leave it up to @BuZz as to whether or not these posts should be edited as they appear going forward.

It affects helpful regulars more, but it's not meant to single you out. This is about the third or fourth time this fix has come up here since DraStic was removed and I'm sure it won't be the last time someone comes looking for an easy way to install it.

@mediamogul I know and I understand the point you are making. However, exophase will do whatever he wants regardless. No additional work has been done on the Pi version of DraStic since the Beta as far as I know. Anyone been in contact with him?

True, and we shouldn't go around walking on eggshells, but a consideration to his wishes regarding the beta certainly doesn't seem inappropriate.

That's tough to gauge. He maintains that his work there will resume when he gets time. Plus, we really don't know what's been done so far. DraStic is normally paid software on most platforms and I'm sure they get a higher priority.

Anyone been in contact with him?

He's remained quiet. There are a few others that have commented on the issue here as well.
